Thermostat I’m not sure on, haven’t had it out to check. I want to say the previous owner said he installed a 190 in it but I could be wrong. What would you consider concerning for a high temp when idling? Maybe I’m over thinking things.
Well you’re pretty much at the limit I would tolerate. Others may chime in. What’s the outside temperature when you’re at 220. Is it really hot outside?

Was really hot the other day, 35 or more probly. But a couple days later back down below 30 and still ran up to 220.

180 is great, that means it is working good going down the road. Does this mean your heads are a problem? Nope.

What type of fan do you have? How far from the radiator is it?

What is the idle speed in park? in gear?
Is this 220 idling in gear in traffic, or idling in park?
I’ll try and get some answers on this later in the week, likely won’t have the car out again before Friday unfortunately.

86F-95F is pretty darn hot. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You could always try some water wetter to cool in down a tad.

So 95°f.
I try not to drive my old stuff much in the summer here. No a/c. Currently 45.5c here.
Ya that’s hot, I always feel bad not taking the opportunity to drive it when I can. Winter always feels like it’s right around the corner.

Have you flipped the tag over? It may reveal more info. Also, you can try using alternate lighting( side lights ) to enhance the remains. Good luck. Great looking ride.

Love that car! Put a performer rpm intake on it and paint it engine color. That is a super cool cruiser for sure!

There's nothing wrong with a 413 except if it's time for a rebuild, pistons are hard to find, and expensive.
If there's nothing wrong with the way it runs now, keep it. No need for a 440 for your intended use.
You could put a performer or rpm on it. Should make a few more hp.
Or punch it to 4.25 and use 383 pistons, change stroke (4.15) or rod length (7.200) and deck block to zero deck height. Makes 471 or 426 cubes respectively

There will be a casting date on the side of the block. You can pull a valve cover and find the casting number on the cylinder head. (Highly unlikely to be an rv engine!).
There were no Vin stampings before 1968, so determining for sure what it came out of is impossible. But my bet? Mid sixties Chrysler.
P.S. GREAT looking car!
Nice looking 64 man! Here is a photo of my 64 Polara's new 440. My 426 wedge had a cracked water jacket while racing it. Good luck with your 413.

Fan is a 7 blade steel Chrysler fan and sits about 2” off the rad.

Idle speed in park is about 800, 750 in gear. It’ll hit 220 idling in gear in traffic, I’ve never noticed if there’s a difference in park or not. Previous owner looped the send and return for the heater core while he had it when the core rotted. I plugged those yesterday and got rid of that loop on the water pump. No change. Still looking into adding a shroud and then possibly an electric fan or two for pushing. Unless someone has some other advice or tips I can try. Car runs great down the road. Just a killer in traffic or cruising downtown.

Exactly! I’ve never heard of anyone refer to
Industrial Mopar engines having a head design that causes overheating!!

That’s Moronic !

All industrial applications had increased cooling capacity because those engines were to be used in … generators …. Water pumps..
Air raid sirens … logging applications… trucks
Airport tow rigs Etc. Get it ?!?!?!?!
But I’ll wager you’re 413 is a period correct
Automobile engine …

Look for a CASTING NUMBER on the head to
Identify! Simple !!

Do Not Listen To The Dork Who Told You
A Certain Head Type Causes Overheating!
There’s Plenty Of Things That Contribute To That You Can Sort Out One By One….

Look For Casting Numbers On the Sides Of The Block Also .

Those Numbers Will Help You Determine You’re Engines Lineage !

Post Photos IF You Can . You Have Access

Try it … you’ll like it !

Mopar2ya!
Got a look at that casting number on the block while I was under the car today, 2468030. As far as I can tell it just tells me it’s a 413RB engine, anyway to tell what car it may have came out of originally?

I have a book that lists all casting numbers including blocks, heads, intakes, etc. for '60s era mopars. I'm in the process of moving so it might take a day or two to find it. Someone else should also have one. Some probably could tell you off the top of their head what that casting number is for. I also have found that my book has some errors. It tells me that, according to the block casting number, my '64 426 street wedge block is for a 383. The block is definitely a 426.

If you find the book and can share any info that would be appreciated, always enjoy learning new things about my car and these old b bodies in general.
