Thermostat I’m not sure on, haven’t had it out to check. I want to say the previous owner said he installed a 190 in it but I could be wrong. What would you consider concerning for a high temp when idling? Maybe I’m over thinking things.

Well you’re pretty much at the limit I would tolerate. Others may chime in. What’s the outside temperature when you’re at 220. Is it really hot outside?

Was really hot the other day, 35 or more probly. But a couple days later back down below 30 and still ran up to 220.

180 is great, that means it is working good going down the road. Does this mean your heads are a problem? Nope.

What type of fan do you have? How far from the radiator is it?

What is the idle speed in park? in gear?
Is this 220 idling in gear in traffic, or idling in park?

I’ll try and get some answers on this later in the week, likely won’t have the car out again before Friday unfortunately.

I try not to drive my old stuff much in the summer here. No a/c. Currently 45.5c here.

86F-95F is pretty darn hot. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You could always try some water wetter to cool in down a tad.
