Hello All! I am coming down to the wire on restoring my 67 GTX 4spd 440. I did notice that my Instrument Cluster wasn't lighting up. I am hoping that it is the bulbs in the back of the cluster. I understand that there are sockets that you twist off to replace the bulbs. Can anyone tell me how many I need to replace. Also, are there any other bulbs I should replace while I am back there and what size are they?

***Also, as mentioned in the title, I am looking for the original style bulbs and not LED's, although they are brighter. Just a personal preference.

Your local parts store will carry 194 bulbs. You can get them 10 in a pack or buy just one.

Look over the little black holders that hold the bulb on the back of the instrument cluster when you have these out to replace/check the bulbs. I have had to replace some of these holders as the plastic was cracked or the contacts were corroded. These holders are available still from a number of places if needed.

Your car took 158 bulbs originally. Not the 194's.
There are (3) similar bulbs that all can work, but I would recommend which one is chosen make sure all of the bulbs are the same #.
1. 158 is a 3.36 watt lamp
2. 168 is a 4.9 watt lamp
3. 194 is a 3.8 watt lamp

In closing the 168 would be slightly brighter.

Just my $0.02...

I was told that the 67's took the 194's from the factory. This comes from a guy who has worked on and restored B Bodies for over 50 years. you might be right, but I would be shocked if this guy told me wrong. he is getting up there in age now, you never know. I appreciate your input and look into this further.

The 1967 GTX used ten #158 bulbs for illumination and indicators in the instrument cluster.

From the 1967 service manual:

#194 can be substituted for # 158. It uses slightly more current as noted and it is slightly brighter.
