I have a 66 Coronet, where did you mount your metermatch? Where did you get key on power from? I was thinking of mounting it in the trunk, but then where would I get power from? Any input from those who've done it is appreciated. My beain is working the problem but I'd like some input. Thanks
 
Left kick panel area. Power off tachometer 12 volt feed.

I will have to see where my fuel gauge wire runs up to the dash. My tach gets power from the coil ign on, and of course signal from the neg side. Really don't want to tax that circuit any more than I have.

That box has little draw. Wires are already in the kick panel. Procrastinate some more.
 
Trunk on my 67 on flat part, spliced into sender line there.. Ran a 18ga wire to it from up front for power. If do it there, have someone to turn key off and on when needed and can tell you what gauge reads if have to do Method 2, esp if have to do a reset on it as you have to hold button down when applying power. Ma was even nice enough to leave a indent to hold the screwdriver if need it again..

I will have to see if I can even access it with all the ac crap under the dash. I'm focused on my race car currently, pretty much need a break from the coronet, just one stupid thing after another. Cylinders are getting worse now. Just need a break. Race car is kicking my but now. I'll get back on it soon. Dropping the tank to replace the sender gasket is priority.
 
Well, race car made 1066 rwgp on my dyno, so I'm back in good spirits. I need to get this out of the box and add wires to it, read instructions, and then decide where to mount it. Sounds like a great memorial day project. Tank needs to come out as well, so I can replace the seal/gasket for the sender. I'll see how much fuel is in it then so I can gauge where to set the meter match. Hoping I ran enough out of it to set it to empty and still have a couple gallons left.
 
Why can’t you get power from the sending unit power, it goes through the trunk pan.
 
I used a glass fuse tap at the fuse panel which is in the glove box on my 69 Coronet. I tapped the sending unit wire at the plug under the driver's kick panel and ran the wires under the dash to the glove box leaving enough extra wire to make the adjustments from the driver's seat.

Lots of folks just velcro the box somewhere under the dash.

I was thinking about doing something like this. I have time to think about it, I have a lot of other crap going on in the garage and street car takeover is in 2 weeks, so still have things on the race car to take care of before then.
Plan is to get car on the rack, drop the tank and eyeball how much fuel is in it while I'm changing sending unit gasket out. Then tank goes back in and I wire and mount this gauge thing in. After that, drive ot sheetz and fill it up and set the full mark. I'll fill in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 as I get to those points.
