What kind of lifters. Specifically
I use 20w50 in both my strokers and 15w40 diesel oil in a 413

Oil recommendations are like @ss holes, everyone has one and they all stink, including mine.
Ran the Lucas break in oil (dyno break in then dumped it) then ran it for the first 500 miles then switched to the Lucas High Zinc Hot Rod 10w-40 in my 500" stroker, BIG solid flat tappet cam.
Cut the filters open after each change and inspect. Any problems will be obvious.

I use 20w60 with a huge amount of zinc on a built 318. I know, thick like cold honey and sounds way off but it works perfect on mine

Imo i say 10/30 too heavy an oil robs power.

It takes almost 20 mins for the oil to get to its full operating temperature, so need to factor how thin it will be warm, any 30 wt oil should be fine, I use Penrite 20w-60 with zinc in my fresh 440, with high volume pump with std spring and its about 70psi warm, 80 odd cold, according to the gauge.

Engine masters did a show on oil viscosity and found no difference in power from zero weight to 50 weight oil, so run the thickest oil you can get away with in your climate.
