U joint cap bolts

Hi everybody:

Do those four U joint bolts that hold your driveshaft get tighter as you go further down and I don't mean down to the bottom. They're the bolts that came with the yoke also.
 
Could they be interference nuts? I remember the u-joint straps on my ERA Cobra they supplied in my package that I built were interference fit - a real pain. Don’t know where they came up with them. If not that they must be cross threaded or something.

Try putting the bolts in without the straps. They should thread in pretty easily. Also take a look that they don't have any type of locking substance already applied - usually its blue or red. And also there's no nylon insert in the bolt - also a locking method.When tighten they don't get a lot of torque so a thread locker of sorts should be used. Can't remember if mine had lock washers on them.
 
Clean out the bolt holes in the yoke and bolt threads with brake cleaner to start.
Dry it off and Use some lube.

Factory bolts on 60's cars used lock washers. No plating bare metal
They thread all the way in smooth.

The stuff they sell later have a captured flat washer. Black plating.
 
It could be rust, residual thread locker or distorted threads from over tightening. I would run a tap through the holes and check the bolt with the appropriate size nut or a thread gauge…
