1972 RR 440 won’t start after running fine. Battery and fuses seem good. Replaced alternator, voltage regulator and ballast resistor. Any ideas?

If it was my car, and it isn't, from the hacked wiring I saw in the pictures, I would replace all of the wiring with M&H or Evans. New battery cables of the same. The big black wire on the alternator should have a guard on it.
Again, if it was mine.

I know this funky wiring isn’t helping my case but it did run quite well for the past year. Though I’m sure all it takes is something coming loose.

Had a similar problem turned out that the relay was loose to the firewall tightened it no problem since
 
The green button was for the juice. :D

Yea, lets replace the car to fix a simple start problem. I call that dumb money.
 
50+year old wire thats hacked up, I would replace it too, fire waiting to happen.
 
Mine should’ve burned down 30 years ago. Next time I have a no start, I’ll tear down the whole goddam car like the boys here would want. Jesus Chrysler.

Sorry Bob. Many come here for advice. As do I. Lots of great advice here. Often though, answers seem to be elaborate or way beyond the means of some. Me included. To solve problems, why not always start with the simplest and least cost fix? Even as the dumbest guy here, I would clean cables first on a no start and spray the Bulkhead on an intermittent complete loss of power. Simple. Low cost. RISK stating the obvious to help members. Also, know when to throw in the towel and PAY for the expertise of others who are Pros and have (expensive) equipment. AC comes to mind.
 
The guy probably likes Scotchlocks Bob, we just need to step away. Not sure why I have still have interest here, I merely suggested that a hacked harness ought to be replaced, if it was mine. Then, 2 people jump in condemning my response and going off of the deep end with all of this. Yeah, hack it up, hope your car doesn't burn up. Damn, there was never an argument to be had here. Plus the OP dropped out after he found his problem.
 
I refuse to replace a whole compartment wire harness over one wire that needs repair. Good grief. Maybe for those that have no clue how to fix anything other than replacing the car over a part it would be the safe way to go.
