Carter BBD accelerator pump

Can anyone tell me how fast the accelerator pump plunges on their BBD carb? I've got a bog issue, engine really stumbles if I stab the throttle. When checking the pump it moves slower than the throttle linkage. I'm wondering if this is normal. I hear it squirt as it moves. It's just delayed from the throttle.

I have the same issue on my two barrel 318, did you ever figure this out?

I wound up purchasing a new plunger and that helped it a ton. The old leather one must not have been moving smoothly in the bore.

Yes the leather shrinks up producing less volume. I usually soak them in atf. Kim

And if you can find the orange one, get that one. It's neoprene and resists ethanol.

The spring pressure is what pushes the plunger down, the linkage just allows it to happen

Which I learned the hard way. I'm still tempted to tell the engineers I know better and change that
