One of the problems that EV's have is the public image of fires, caused by the flammable liquid electrolytes in Lithium-Ion batteries.
Ducati's prototype bike sidesteps that issue with solid state batteries which utilize ceramics instead of liquids. Other benefits include much lighter weight and quicker charge times. The Ducati V21L is designed to be competitive with 200 hp. track bikes.
Ducati, part of the Volkswagen group, is testing the technology which is also being developed for automobiles such as Audi, also part of Volkswagen.
