Am I wrong in thinking it’s too easy to make crazy power these days?

He better learn how to tune his chassis before someone gets hurt.

He didn't drive or work on it for like 2+ years & got back into it...

It's done that a lot prior too...
I think it had wheelie bars (at one time) & he broke them
no idea why he doesn't use them still or again

& Yes it's a bit easier today to make huge power w/huge cids,
his is a 8:71 Blown Alum 526cid EFI Hemi, pretty much no expense spared...
He's doing it with a 6 speed, hydraulic clutch, sort of lil' tires 29 x 10.5's (I think)
Many are near 588-600 cid is the new norm,
to even run just 9's in a 3,000# car with 31" & up big tires :realcrazy:
some do it on a 275 Radial too, that's nuts...

& yes makes it easier to do today...
Still have to know what you're doing...

But mostly all the checkbook builders with deep pockets helps
(Helps the SEMA industry too)
Big boost, blown Roots or centrifugal, probably most responsible for the fast stuff
& tunable to nth degree EFI, & some have traction control, & $10k shocks too
it all has certainly aided in it, people knowing how to tune it
&/or they will sell you a program & also their programmers, for a fee

A buddy of mine is doing drag week right now. 87 Shelby Charger GLHS (4 cylinder turbo, stick shift, front wheel drive). Said traction issues have had him running "only" 11.88 and 11.77 so far...

I miss having a fast car....

I spend more time than that doing a burnout.

Maybe he should too...might get some traction with some more heat in the slicks! If I know him, he's already running around 15psi in them...can't go much lower than that, those fwd torque-steer monsters get REAL slimy at the big end with any less pressure... he'll get it figured out. He's got an Omni turbo he went 10.80 in recently but it's an auto - not as challenging.

I did see a post from Finnegan where he said that once it’s in high gear it’s all worth it, the speed is incredible. I’m not jealous at all.

^^^^^^^^^^
me either , did you guys see the earlier recordings , where they made stupid mistake after stupid mistake with the hemi , almost made me cry , but I digress, I ended up laughing at him .
He`s got more money than sense ...
I quit watching him completely!!!

I was thinking the same thing about having bars on it once before....

I couldn't believe the torque steer the first time to drive a GLHS Omni. Took off a bit easily in first and power shifted 2nd and it was all I could do to keep it in my lane (street run) against a Camaro. I think him seeing the Omni moving around skeert him off lol

At least he ain’t spinnin the tires off the line to the 60 foot, and it puts on a good show if nothin else…. but yeah I saw the wheelie video and I thought it was badass. I love that car, and finally a Mopar engine in a Chebby instead of an LS!

I do too. A couple of years ago and buddy and I went to The Hemi Fest at the now defunct Houston track in Baytown. Any car with a Chrysler Hemi in it was welcome. There were a few off brand cars that showed up with the G2 Hemi but most had the G3 engines. The most iconic car that showed up with a G2 was a 55 Chevy 210 (?) 2dr sedan. It ran pretty good but don't remember the numbers. He didn't get much attention either maybe because most of the cars out there that night were using the late model engine? Seems like those guys are a different breed and could care less about the older Hemi engines.....? Another car that showed up with the G2 engine was a....yup, a Gremlin. It ran even better and got more attention than the 55 probably because it was pretty fast and had better paint. The 55 sorta looked like Finnegan's but not as nice.

Man, a lot of hate in here for a man furthering interest in cars and actually out doing something. I pulled all 4 wheels off the ground in 08, did I not know what I was doing? No, I was operating within the rules of the class which specified no slipper clutches, no contraptions that slip the clutch out. It's called building a car and racing it and figuring it out and how to make it perform better each pass. My fix was leaving at 6300 on the spray. We weren't allowed progressive controllers either.
So go show him how it's done, I guess. I'm glad to see him out in it enjoying time with his friends and sharing that with us.
Sheesh, car guys are a special group I guess.

You think this is a hate group?? Go to a Chevy site and let them know you are a Mopar guy LOL

I’m not hating on the guy.

When I was having handling issues with my 12 second 4 speed car I felt it was irresponsible to drive it like that.

The guy in the other lane doesn’t want wiped out. Spectators don’t want run over.

It’s a wild car I get it. But at some point you have to get it under control.

If you watch the video, he's trying. 10* timing, pedaling it out of the box, trying all the usual fixes.

It's not like it's changing lanes - it's simply hooking too well. He's actually got the BEST problem - he's putting TOO MUCH power to the ground! About the only fix is gonna be wheelie bars.

Making 'crazy' power isn't all that easy....but with lots of money, it's not so hard. What you do with it is the key.
