The slotted end of the strut attaches at the fender as previously noted.

Strut part number is 2962633 and same number shown in the chassis manual.
One strut on each side of car.

The bolt that attaches the strut to the fender has a captive washer.

Actually, two nuts on the forward end of the strut. One nut secures the grille and upper reinforcement together and acts as a standoff when mounting the strut and second nut.
