I hope it's a nice day everywhere to be working on our cars! It is in Florida, even tho it's 90! My question....like so many of us that have committed to new harnesses in our 50+ year old cars, I have done the same. I bought M&H harnesses and the front, rear and engine harnesses are in. My problem with my dash harness is the routing and use of the behind dash bundle clamps. Yeh, I know ...where's the pic I took when I pulled the original out? Well, that was 23 years ago and it sat for 20, stripped down. Now that I'm putting it all back together with the resto I've done, I can't remember how it actually lays out under the dash so it won't interfere with the wiper linkage, the vent cables, speaker wires, etc. Does some have or can take a pic of how the main bundle is configured back there?

Dont know if this helps 70 charger

Thanks DaveK. I would imagine they're pretty close and since you have the same car.I do, (Bee)I was hoping you'd chime in. Let me zoom and see. I already plugged in the bulkhead connector and am working my way from there. I think I have most everything built.out on the dash so I'll hang it on the bolts and work from there...

My 70 Bee I did with the dash in. If its a new M&T harness you Will have extra plugs.

68 Charger.
Pics looking at dash from left to right if I downloaded the pics in the right order. Original wiring. Some labels are on sockets.
I also installed M&H not sure if I have new harness pics.

Thank you guys. I'm pretty sure between BD and Dave, I'll be able to manage. It is a new M &H and I do also have the classic wiring color schematic to use. Good thing they are matching color coded on the new harness. I'm gonna hang the dash assembly on the bolts tomorrow.and start connecting. Take my time and see what happens!

Soooooo, the easy part is basically done. Naturally I have some wires I can't account for and for sure some are a/c based. The wires giving me the most problem are:
1) The connection for the map light
2) The heater resistor...I have the typical 3 prong spades and the single spade on the resistor itself. Which spade gets the green wire from the blower motor? I don't seem to have any connector on the old harness or the new, to plug anything into the 3 spades on the resistor. I also have nothing on the fan/defrost control but plastic slide tabs. There's nothing else trical there at all. How is the L/M/H speeds for the fan governed?
3) The connection for the ash tray light and cig lighter?
Does anyone (Dave) have readily viewable access on their dashes to see?

There's alot going on there. For the glovebox, map light, ash tray and ignition light, there are one or two sub harnesses that plug into the door switch wire, the yellow one. There is a timer in the ign light. That spade for the heater comes from the heater motor switch. That green wire go the the fan motor and there is also a ground wire to the motor. Sorry that I do not remember if there are one or two harnesses for the lights, it's been over a year ago since I did mine. The harness was just wrapped up in the old wiring that I replaced with new M&H harness dash harness, so I just had to figure it out. Car hasn't driven yet, but all of that harness is now covered up, would be difficult to get a picture.

Thanks Bird...I have my green motor wire in the same place right now like you do but I don't have that 3 prong connector like you do. My new harness doesn't seem to have this wire. Is your car an A/C car? Mine isn't and maybe that's why I don't have that piece of harness?
I'll have to look at my door switch wire (yellow)with 2 connectors for that style door switch but I'm afraid it will be wrapped inside the bundle and have work backwards. I DO still have the original harness on the floor. It does have a few cut wires but still matching to the new harness looks ......challenging on these last fronts

3) The connection for the ash tray light and cig lighter? 3 prong female I believe should be orange or red

The other heater wires are part of the heater switch. You can see them in the picture #12. I believe the cigarette lighter is red, that should be in the dash harness. This sub harness for the other lights is all by itself. I never thought of taking a picture of it when I had it out.

Bird....I do see the problem. My heater /defrost panel under the top of the dash DOES NOT have the electrical component. I only have the cables and the small rectangular illumination light bar. Now knowing the heater switch component is missing, and thereby have nothing to plug into the resistor, was the configuration possible? Did the factory not install heater /defrost switches to regulate speeds? Maybe it was there at one time and removed by a prior owner? Can I get any speed out of the fan without the switch? My 3 sp motor is newly rebuilt.

So, I am wondering what you do have. In the picture below, is my heater panel. The far right knob or button is the heater fan control or selector. So you are missing the fan switch? I have a spare somewhere, because mine doesn't work very well, but the one I purchased here from another member, doesn't work very well either. New is not available to my knowledge. If you need one, try ebay, or down in the parts wanted section ask for one. Some of the cars parting out are another possibility.

Here’s a pic of the back of my heat/ac controller.
If it helps seeing connections.

First, my car is a '69 Road Runner, not A/C. I have reread everything here, I thought that you did not have A/C, pretty sure that #12 picture is an A/C controller. Looks just the the one in my '72 Dart with A/C. The fan speed switch in the picture is on the far left? The davek picture is a non A/C #3.

Roger that Bird. Since mine is non A/C, it doesn't have that bigger wire block attached to the backside of the panel but I don't have the lever slide that moves when you slide the fan switch on the front. That pivoting lever that has the electrical wires attached and connects to my resistor is gone. I did find some on eBay, but nobody is promising the switch part actually works. It's gonna be a crap shoot but as far as I can tell, you're right .....no repros.
BD....yeh, I can tell the difference now between the air car control and the non air cars. I was just baffled wondering if the cars might have come built with no switch or wires for the resistor? Doesn't make much sense to me why they would, so I'm gonna conclude mine probably got pilfered somewhere in its past.

This is my spare. You can see what you are missing. If you get that ebay switch, you can open the switch up by bending the tabs back. Clean and polish the contacts and lube the slides, reassemble. If memory serves me, low and medium work alright, but hi was touchy. So at least you would have 2 speeds.
