Are stock Hyd Lifters the same in a 1968 318 and a 1970 383 ?

I'm not sure?
I know the early big blocks had lifter seats that were lower and used a longer pushrod that had a long narrow end on the pushrod for those early engines.

I believe 68-70 were all the same

68 up are a design with the larger cup.
67 back are a design with smaller cup.
Not engine specific.

Aren't lifters for small blocks different from big blocks? I remember reading that somewhere years ago. I have only dealt with big blocks so I don't know.

What I’ve seen is that “from the factory”, BB and SB engines came with different lifters……….. they had different oil bands.

The aftermarket doesn’t always make the distinction…….and when that’s the case, they sell the SB style lifter for both.

MP sold dedicated BB or SB Hyd lifters.

I have never paid attention to any difference and
I never have had an issue. Most replacement that I have seen
for the last 40 years are just one part number for Mopars
lifters.

The solid rollers are specific for A engines and another design
for B engines.

Mopar performance had dedicated small and big block lifters. I think the big block ones had a .075 thou deeper seat. Kim
