Ouch!
Reminds me of Easter 1964. Riding around in our small town. Driving my parents 61 Pioneer. 6 friends in the car. There was a very low road by sports grounds. Usually snowed in in the winter. It had thawed, frozen water mains. Town had dug it out. No warning signs. Area was full of water. I floored it.
Well the front end almost cleared the other side of the trench that was under water. But bounced out to the other side. Two passengers in the front spider webbed the windshield, I bent the top of the steering wheel with my teeth. Teeth weren’t hurt, I think because I had been eating tough bull moose since I was little. Mother and father cooked a lot of meat that I think would almost shatter if dropped. They were very concerned about worms.
Still have my teeth and I think the old steering wheel is around.
I sold the Pioneer to a fellow in 2019, who is freshening it up. Car was always garaged, parked, inside storage from 1974-2016. 313, would roll the speedometer all the way to 120. Dad told me.
