Gas tank filler grommet- which end in?

Bought new fuel tank, and new fuel filler tube grommet. I purchased the “taller” version grommet…see pic.
Of course no instructions, so which end goes in the tank?

The fuel tank grommet pictured, Chrysler number 3404182, was released as an improvement over the other, earlier style, number 2880481. In addition to the main seal, 3404182 added an external dust/secondary seal. The grommets can interchange in most cases.

The seal, 2880481, can install with either side out, but 3404182 installs with the added seal on the outside as shown in the following image:

Ok….
1- bulb end inside the tank
1- bulb end outside the tank

Looking for a tie breaker….
 
When I hit the shop next I'll look. I did the Superbird filler tube grommet awhile back.. can't find a picture, but it went back the way the rotted one came out!
 
So……2- bulbous end on outside
1- bulbous end on inside

Any more inputs???
 
I vaguely remember having the 2 styles side by side, and what I remember is the bulb was added to the tank side of the earlier style. The opposite end has the taper to help with tube insertion. Even if DMT is incorrect, I’ve installed them that way on 2 cars. Both installed easily and never leaked.

Well see now that’s what i was thinking…. since the “non-bulb “ side has a chamfer i thought that should be up?
 
I guess I’ll go with the “bulbous “ side up, outside the tank ….
Ive seen many web results about lubricating both the seal and the filler tube to help with installation?
I was thinking spraying both with silicone spray….i did see on a video, one guy filled the groove with grease?
 
Silicone grease would be correct answer. Helps protect the rubber as well.
