Has Plum Crazy been over done

My 1970 ‘Cuda is EK2, Vitamin C. E=‘69, it was a mid year addition on the M code B bodies. If it was on others, I don’t recall seeing it.

Guys had a nice 69 Purple Charger listed all over Facebook 4 ever and can’t give it away. what is your original color?

I dont like FC7 on a pre 70, just personal taste. And after doing this car and sanding an resanding it a few times I no longer like FC7 anyway, again just personal taste for my own cars.

I have two FC7 cars one is a 70 Challenger convertible with a white top and interior. The other one is a 70 Charger R/T that will look like this when it is done.

Yeah, I have that Mopar genetic thing where 70 colors look odd to my eye on a 69 or earlier car. Try T3 Light Bronze. It's an uncommon color and looks fantastic.

I think FC7 looks best on e bodies and just ok on b bodies. My friend has this 72 Cuda and it looks outstanding!

It does look good as a nicely done car. I would not mind having it. The polished slots make it look go also, but the 70-71 color, 70 hockey stick stripe and definitely the 70 go wing just make it look wrong to me.

IMO- WAY over done on pre-1970 cars.

Also IMO- metallic turquoise or turbine bronze has the same effect but is period correct.

Another IMO-

You can usually "get by" with 70/71 HIP colors on 72 and later cars as the styling is more like the 71's than the earlier cars. In fact, I've seen a few "late" cars factory 999 special ordered with FC7 and it looked "correct".

Agree with no impact colors on 69 down. Yuk. On the flip side though, you could get cool colors on 72up trucks, like panther pink

Are you referring to 1969 model year ? I've never, even during real time back in the day, seen a 1969 car with FC7. From the factory. Some HIP colors were introduced in 1969, FC7 was not.

By "late" cars and with the description in the first sentence ...I'm talking about cars built after most HIP paint was offered.

Yes, plum crazy is way overdone, but not as bad as lime green, my 2 least favorite colors. I don’t mind them on cars that originally came with those colors, but if it’s purple, it has to have white accents to go with it. Nothing makes lime green look good, so white is a must there also. Heck, not even dog dish hubcaps can make those colors look good on a pre-70! :-)
