Changing stock Color

I'm not building my stuff for the next guy.

That was my car. I got it out of South Carolina and it was loaded. Power steering, power disc brakes, air, cruise control, power windows and am radio with 8-track. 91 was the first year for Chryslers at Carlisle. I got there on Saturday morning slept in the car overnight and left Sunday afternoon. I was living in Syracuse NY at that time. Back then I was getting cars out of the Anderson SC area. I never should’ve sold that car.

Do what you want, it's your car.
If it were mine? I'd paint it the desirable original scheme, since it's an R/T.
Ordinary Coronet? I'd feel much better about changing the color.
(I have four red cars, in spite of it NOT being my favorite color. All were acquired for reasons other than the color, and in spite of it).

A fellow FBBO member @CoronetDarter changed colors in his 69 Coronet to a later model color, Toxic Orange. It looks great.

Thanks for the tip, not sold on that specific color just thought it was a sign that I randomly picked it out of about 50 chips! This car is the color Im looking for!

You could use AI sites to change the color on the car. I played with a few colors for my Jigsaw Charger.

Sounds like YOUR priorities are straight. Paint it your desired color and don’t look back. I haven’t painted my ‘66 yet, but when I do it’ll be a mineral grey or silver. I often consider its original light blue but my eyes and heart ain’t in it. Go ManGo!

if for resale and it's a numbers car, the paint code leaves you no choice.
if it's for you, do it for you in whatever you want, and to hell with anyone else's opinion.
if it's for resale and it's non numbers, it's probably smart to do what will sell.

Red and white is a stunning combo to me and personally I'd stick with it because I like it, but if you don't care for it, then paint it any color you want and make yourself happy.

We go through life making endless adult decisions to benefit other people, you get to do this one thing for you....so, really do it for you.

My GTX was originally A4 silver poly, but when I acquired it, it was backyard-quality root beer brown metallic which I hated so much I immediately primered over. Eventually I did my first paint job on it in driveway-quality black mostly due to not being confident in my ability to successfully spray silver metallic on my first attempt/historically difficult. It got me by for decades, but it's come full circle/back to A4 I did myself, it's been a long trip and I'm enjoying the journey. The interior was originally black, which I like, but am changing it to a lighter color for hot weather comfort reasons.

After all the labor involved with body and paint, I absolutely would not even consider the price of the basecoat into the decision. For basecoat I suggest: if you don't like the price, maybe try a different supplier but don't compromise on getting a color that will make you happy. When we take that $1000 material cost and bury it into the price of the entire job, (especially labor) and it's not even worth considering. Whether you like the color or not is a much bigger factor.
