440 I guess this is a truck block?

    I mentioned ‘65 blocks. I haven’t seen more than 15 though.

440 I guess this is a truck block?

Yeah. Not often seen. All ‘65 440 blocks I’ve seen have them as they were only put in C and D bodies for the ‘66 MY. The ‘69 factory 440 A bodies all had them as well.

440 I guess this is a truck block?

More pix of the A body installation. Most blocks are not drilled and tapped.

440 I guess this is a truck block?

    Here’s the factory setup on a ‘67- ‘69 A body.

440 I guess this is a truck block?

I have a ‘69 383 block that has those bosses. If I recall, the ‘65 C bodies and maybe ‘66 used them for motor mounts. The later ‘67-‘69 A bodies used them for the drivers side motor mount on the 383 and 440. Could be a motorhome used them later.

Engine block info on a 440?

The one I mentioned in the previous post didn’t. It had the correct for ‘71 heavy rod damper.

Engine block info on a 440?

What’s stamped on the block only referenced what it had when new. Back in the 80’s, I witnessed the tear down of a matching # block in a ‘71 V code ‘Cuda. It had a cast crank and the 8.5 to 1 pistons in it. It ran great, but the guy said it didn’t seem to make much power. 8^]

    A39 code

Sux the vinyl top was part of those packages. But I’m sure Chrysler loved them. They could charge extra for less paint and bodywork.

Economical auto to 4 speed conversion?

I bought both my E87 D21 ‘70 ‘Cuda and ‘70 Charger back in the early 80’s specifically because they were factory 4 speed cars. Even then gathering all the parts was a daunting task.

BIG BLOCK ENGINE STUMBLES ONLY UNDER QUICK/HARD ACCELERATION???

I assume you have a new fuel filter. I was a having an intermittent stumble in my 383. A new fuel filter seems to have cured it.

    1968 383HP motor and trans

Unless the cam specs are different, and I don’t think they are. I believe they just “gifted” the road runner 383 five extra HP.

    1969 Road Runner Automatic Stick

I just like the sound of a clutch car going thru the gears. I don’t care if it’s slower or not as consistent.

Best heads for a budget 440?

Yup. One and done. I’m a Mopar lifer. And I remember the hot ticket was the ‘67 915 closed chamber heads that have “HP” stamped on the two bolt boss. I put em on my ‘70 Six Pack Charger for a little extra compression. Back then they were worth money as the 906 heads littered the junkyards.

Best heads for a budget 440?

I can’t imagine anyone using the old cast iron heads, unless the are going OEM resto or get a freshly done set for cheap. The aluminum heads will allow you to run higher compression on pump gas. They will take about 50 lbs. off the front end, and most flow way better than any stock head.

I painted my whole car that color! :D

69 Charger 8 3/4 Axle housing Markings (Yellow "B" and Circle "X" on back or not?)

Sorry about that. I don’t mean to dis the OEM resto crowd. But this is the drivetrain forum. And… I haven’t been on BAT in months. Tired of all the 911’s and old Broncos. But a ‘63 Split Window Fuelie Vette just moved for $250k. Another ‘63 SW Vette with an LS in it went for $280k. So the hot...
