I converted that 514 over to EFI and ran some dyno tests for a magazine article. It made close to 900 hp with EFI using Q16 race fuel. Using Q16 turned out to be a mistake but that is how you learn.

Bob, that being said I'm interested to know about rebuilding an alternator if I can do it at home. I can always send the new alternator back whenever it arrives in the mail. Thanks
I don't think the knife edge works as well as the rounded nose but I don't port intake manifolds. I was interested to see how far Wilson extended the dividers into the plenum on the intake they did for me. That added a lot of material to that intake. I think it picked up around 30 hp from the mods.
I tried a bunch of different cams in that engine over the years. Last cam I had was Crane 481 lift lobe with 282 duration on the intake. I was using 1.85 rockers on the intake and 1.70 on the exhaust.
I think the cam before that was just as good if not better. It was a Crane 452 lobe with...
I grounded the field wiring coming from the voltage regulator at the negative post of the battery via a jumper wire and the alternator still failed to charge. My understanding is that the voltage regulator is essentially a switch that "opens" or creates a ground when the battery power drops...
I have a 67 Coronet 500 with a 426 hemi. Bought it as a unfinished project. I completed it and one thing I was advised to do was put disc brakes on the front. I found 1973 Roadrunner and used the 11 3/4" discs on my car. I used the origonal calipers (rebuilt) and rotors and masteer cylinder...
Agree, no ground strap. The sender was grounded with a clip that went from the pickup to the main fuel line. There should be a blue wire that goes through a grommet in the trunk that plugs directly onto the sending unit.
It is very likely that the mechanical voltage regulator has failed. There are new electronic voltage regulator replacements that resemble the origional unit and do not require any wiring changes or additions. The cost is approximately $25.00 (on line suppliers). If that does not fix the low...
