Having to do many job-related accident investigations, including a few where the person injured wasn’t around to talk to anymore, your last two sentences would make for an excellent safety ‘talk’.
Had that happen when on a Bridgeport milling an angle on hydraulic blocks; glad I wasn’t in its path of flight. Another time pipe-tapping, wicked-large tap, the tap broke sending it on both sides of me and busted through the large window 25-ft behind me. I have a few more stories of avoiding a...
Good to know as I haven’t tried LED’s in the dash, I know there can be a washout effect. Rarely drive my ride at night anymore as it is. Upgrading the headlights though has been on my agenda…too many other projects keep getting in the way.
After doing the work, replaced the bulbs even though they were working, the old bulbs were quite dust-coated. Yeah, on mine the reverse and 1st gear buttons are slightly dimmer; but when pressed in they’re brighter. I don't think this is unusual seeing some other buttons. Never thought of...
Kind a like old Ronny Reagan said - Trust but Verify...older some get, the more some find out this isn't a bad idea. Well, at least with me, having acquired a list of errors in judgement at my age on many topics...to the extent of 'Don't trust, but Verify', lol.
Odd how life can evolve, used to operate mills, and one beastly mill we had from the 40’s, still painted military green…Kearney & Trecker horizontal mill used for hog-cutting. Damn, never realized how much body-abuse I took lifting up 4” cylinder stock onto the table vice at chest height from a...
had a similar hassle, some call it 'run-on' - usual go-to's are the ballast and ig switch. Found a poor connection at the ig wire at the BH, it would become loose from normal vibration. Also had overheated the contact in a new harness so had to replace the connector.
It’s the 2nd time I’ve had this dash re-chromed in some 20-years or so. Nope, not cheap; but spend a lot of time looking at it while driving. There’s a member on the forum that does this work and also provided new lenses – doing an excellent job. Last time there was a minor flaw and he re-did...
Been accused more than a few times of being too nit-picky. I follow torque spec’s religiously. Well, after all, it gives me the opp to use the friggin torque wrenches I bought.
Some comments on restoring the buttons on my dash in my ‘63. After some trial & error having some mule buttons, found that using any products/cleaners containing alcohol was a bad idea. I got most of the cleaning done with warm water and dish soap using a toothbrush and nifty needle-pointed...
I have 15” wheels with the 60 height. Suppose I could have stayed with 70’s or even a 65. Been thinking of another set of wheels and tires anyway; but then other things on deck for the Ply. Good memory! I’ve yet to tackle the distrib. Hope to this spring yet.
Just irritating driving at 3-grand...
Question about 727 overdrive installation possibility on a ’63 PB trans. Poly 318 with some performance modifications. I’m not any expert on tranny’s. My trans was upgraded to a modern TQ and spline some 5-years ago. My first mistake was taking out the 3:23’s installing 3:55’s. Thinking of going...
To belabor the mindset on this, just mine, the belated definition of muscle cars – The GTO is a muscle car, no doubt. However, it being labeled as the FIRST one (based on the further definition of Pontiac Motor Division being so bold-so-innovative to install a big motor in a mid-size car) is HS...
Wow, working at Dodge City in the late 60’s. You had to have been surrounded by some awesome new Dodges when they were fresh off the assembly line or the still young Dodges in for service. My elder brother worked at a few dealerships back when, including the infamous EVS. Old Ernie was a – piece...
Another huge mopar dealer was Dodge City, go figure, lol. They're still around and host an annual MOPAR Under the Lights show...at night.
Bought my 1st 'new' car there (ok it was a demo) Challenger w/ 2000 miles on it. Like to know what they did with my '70 Cuda vert I handed them as a...
