I can... grind, sand and polish them and sell as a set. The challenge is the mounting studs. I found that the matching holes are different with a 66 vs 67 so I am unsure if I should drill and mount for a 66 if someone has a 67 fender. But I can sell them as finished products.
Hey all,
The front chrome spears on my 66 Charger were damaged and I could not repair them. So, I crafted a model and sand-casted replacement spears. Like all sand-castings, they are rough and require some minor grinding followed by sanding, polishing then buffing to a shine.
They don't have...
Hey all,
Does anyone know the wire gage for the nichrome wire used in the fuel, oil and temp gauges? I want to try to rebuild each but not sure what the wire gage size is. Does 24 gage nichrome wire sound right?
Yea... I did. Running through a host of other minor issues like no tach, no temp and no oil pressure readings. The 5v converter is gone TU on me I think.
Awe crap... and I just put the gauge cluster back into the dash. :BangHead:
As noted, I see the voltage jump up and down... tough to read though. But I get what your saying Twecomm.
Do you know what to look for in a blown gauge?
Hey all,
I have fully rebuilt my 1966 Charger. I rebuilt the wiring harnesses as well, nose to tail. Everything is up and functioning except the Temperature and Oil Pressure gauges. Both sensors are NEW.
I think I should be getting about 5v at the sensors since the wiring diag. shows 5v. What...
You mean like in matching numbers and all? Yea... not totally. I did install HP exhaust manifolds, but the radiator is aluminum. However, I kept the bumper sticker security pass for the Airforce Base I was stationed at in the 80's. :)
Sorry... 1966 Dodge Charger. I have had it since I was 16 and just finished a full restore on it. It had a 318 in it but it always seemed anemic so when I decided to rebuild it, I wanted to go with a 383. Proved hard to find for the money I could afford so I looked for a 440. For the Charger...
I don't see a plug on the pass side front on the water jacket housing. This is a 67 block (I think... that's what I was told) but I must have the wrong water pump casting.
Hey all,
I installed a 440 in my 66 dodge charger. First time I have worked with a 440 block. It has HP exhaust manifolds. Runs great but I am noting steam from second to rear right exhaust bolt. Did I miss something when assembling the exhaust?
Idle is set to 650-700. Good question about the shift kit. When I was a kid (17 or so) I had the transmission rebuilt by a local co in Tacoma WA. They guy said he put in a shift kit but I didn't notice it and he could have been blowing smoke. Stupid kid that I was, I would not have known at that...
Hey all,
I rebuilt my 727 trans (66 Charger) when I moved it from the 318 housing to a big block housing. When I put it in gear, it clunks into drive or reverse. Fluid level is good. Wondering if it is a setting. Maybe I need to tighten the bands?!?
FYI... I have never rebuilt a trans before...
Excellent directions Geoff... I will give that a try. I did drop the line into a bottle and after 4 rotations (4 pumps), I got 2 oz or 1/2 oz per cycle out of the pump. Not sure if that is good or bad but it seems right. Of course, I did replace the filter. I had a reusable/cleanable filter...
I put a new gas tank in and cleaned the sock so I doubt it's the sock. I know I am getting more than a dribble. Enough to see it flowing into the filter but it sure aint enough to run. It idles fine. But put the peddle down and it will stall... like it's starved of fuel. Under load... it dies. I...
