On the hood hinge area rust area, just weld in a new piece of metal. I just did it on a 72 Challenger. Easy access. Here's a couple of photos.

I've seen this comment before about the plastic pillar post covers but the only solution I read was a little bit of heat from a heat gun. Please let us know how you get it to fit. To me, heat would seem to get rid of some of the grain texture.
