    Does Motor Oil Go Bad?

My Dad told me, somebody, I think it was Kaiser, offered a "sealed" motor that never needed oil... For a very short time.

Rattle can shaker tool I made

Reciprocating saw blade and muffler clamp. Works great. Don't know if I had to, but I used a propane torch to take the blue out of the blade.

    Love my Super Sawzall but.....

A building contractor friend claims they are battery killers because of vibration. I reach for my 14 volt Dewalt before my 110 reciprocating saw and haven't had any failures. It's quick and handy, but for big things or a lot of cutting, I get out the 110. His saw gets heavy use.

    Just bought a Milwaukee 2" sander/polisher

I too, have a Bosch 6" orbital. I like it, but it doesn't reach into the 90 degree angles like the 2 inch sander does. The Bosch has a number of speed settings and a soft start, but it's not variable speed with the trigger, so it's still too fast for what I'm doing. Otherwise, I like my Bosch...

    Just bought a Milwaukee 2" sander/polisher

Milwaukee says the small battery will last long enough to do: " All the trim on a car or polish a pair of headlights". It's a brush type motor.

    Just bought a Milwaukee 2" sander/polisher

I debated with myself buying it because its use is limited. It only sands and polishes, but it does it nicely. A friend has one so I used it and liked it so much, I bought one. What I like is the control, you can idle this thing right down to nothing. But for $200, yikes. That's how...

How to drill a blind hole?

With my caveman mill and this 3/4 end mill, (a 1930's John Deere with a USAF missile site surplus 1/2" Sioux Drill) I plan to drill 1/8" deep holes in 3/8ths flat aluminum.

How to drill a blind hole?

My problem is the space for a Mill. With this end mill, I can plunge cut with my drill press and use the side flutes like a burr? In my side view, cutaway drawing, I want to square my hole sides and enlarge the diameter. I also would like to thin the base by 1/8". Is this end mill suitable?

How to drill a blind hole?

Thanks for the help. A ball end burr gets me what I needed. Now I want to enlarge an opening. It's 2 3/4 inches down inside of the casting. I was about to go pawn shop hopping to find a Router as the Internet says they will work fine on my aluminum. Would like to clean up the bottom too...

How to drill a blind hole?

It's to make space for the head of a bolt, so a little wandering probably won't hurt me. My blade bits are vintage, so they have good metal in them. I have some that go to a Brace. Dadsbee, is that a wood bit? I found this on eBay, HSS should be a good burr...

How to drill a blind hole?

A video following Nora's video post showed a wood paddle bit. Never would have guessed a guy could use one of those. Seems to work better than the Forstner. I have a quality set of Forstner's but I hate to sacrifice one. Will buy a cheap one or I have a bunch of old paddle bits. My drill...

How to drill a blind hole?

I need to drill a 3/4" diameter hole, 1/4 inch deep in a 3/8" thick, flat piece of cast aluminum. I have a drill press, what do I need for a bit? The hole gives clearance for a bolt

Air compressor in garage or out?

I have an upright and I was imagining it outside in a what looks like an outhouse. Might even paint a crescent moon on it. Put vents at the bottom and mount one of those roof fans to kick on when the pump does.

Machining Cast Aluminum with an end grinder

Machining Cast Aluminum with an end grinder

I wondered if it wasn't heating up. All I have is a 110 volt end grinder and it has one speed: Hang on! So I'll have to finally buy a air die grinder... woe is me (not)
