I have never thought of the possibility of such an issue. From now on I will be dry fitting and modifying all my rear main seals. I would think a couple tenths of a second on my belt sander would correct the issue. And add a dab of silicone at the parting line.

I have never had or heard of the KD adjustment screw leaking? I guess I need more than 56 years of Torqueflite service! Hope to live long enough to experience such a leak.

First thing I can tell you is that you do not want the hubs filled with grease. Pack the bearings with grease and coat the inside of the hubs with grease and that's enough. Too much will push out with normal heat and expansion. The auto parts store should be able to help with the correct seals...
It sure wouldn't hurt to pull and disassemble that distributor. Is it extremely humid at home? Have you tried pulling plug wiers one at a time to isolate a cylinder?

There is another set of contacts in the ignition switch that provides 12 volts -bypassing the ballast-to give a hotter spark for starting. It uses a brown colored wire.
