When I first got my rebuilt 440 on the road I just used distilled water and a bottle of WaterWetter. Runs cool, never over 200 degs even in stop and go traffic.
When winter got closer I drained out about a gallon and added green antifreeze until it tested to just 20 degrees below. Topped off...
...water pump on water, and pour in any kind of system lubricant, the pump will speed up you can hear it. Proof is in the pudding on the ceramic seal. Corrosion resistance is equally important.
Run your favorite blend of waterwetter, hyper cool, whatever, they have it built in. And it cools...
being a caveman with a garden hose nearby..... it got water.. then when it got cold i drained it and put in antifeeze... i take this thing apart so much i would go broke buying AF :)
...for the car. In Florida summer’s with ease wouldn’t 200-205. Not good.. I changed out to a 185 added amsoi’s anifreeze and a bottle of their version of waterwetter.. wow! Consistently at 185! Maybe in traffic I hit 195-200. As soon as I move back down. Mileage ,power and throttle are all better.
Waterwetter is essentially anti corrosion. Ethylene Glycol anti freeze won't cool as good as regular water, but you need something in there to keep the block from rusting.
I ran waterwetter and a thin mix of anti freeze in AZ and I had no issues.
...Anyone had experience with these brands, particularly the Victor?
Car has standard cast pump and changing pump is my last attempt to try to cool the car( runs up to 220 at 3000rpm on highway after 15 minutes.Has 26" radiator, 2 x 14" fans, waterwetter, 160 Mr Gasket thermostat. Thanks in...
...into the dog days of Summer with big block cars that are hot under the collars, Who on here has had REAL world experience with a favored waterwetter solution?
There are so many products out there that promise running cool in the heat of the night, but which ones are the best?
Let the cool...
For what it's worth, I Wish my 67 383 belvedere ran that! I was running 230-240, with waterwetter, 7 blade clutch fan, shroud, 16# cap, hv w.p., distilled water&coolant. W/3 row radiator. + spring in lower hose. & yes I tried everything else to fix it. Off road since 2004.
...cruise at 200-205, might climb as high as 215-220 in stop and go traffic, no issues. All my BB Mopars liked to run hot in AZ. I have a 22" 2 row ECP (1 1/8" tubes) radiator, shroud, 7-blade fan & clutch, 185 t-stat, aftermarket a/c, hi-flow water pump. I run distilled water and waterwetter.
...of replacement if you're away from home and have an issue. Keep the bottles sealed on the shelf so no animals get into them.
I've run waterwetter in my track bike (no coolant allowed on racetracks) but change it back to coolant soon as race season is over due to the anti corrosion qualities.
...is for not just putting antifreeze in it? The chemicals also work better as a coolant than plain ol water when it's hot out (always ran waterwetter in my motorcycle for track days to keep it from overheating - no antifreeze allowed on track).
And unless you removed your heater control...
WaterWetter is used to
reduce the surface tension
found primarily in aluminum
radiators. Allowing the rad
fluid to remain in contact
with the inside surface of
tubes. It will work in
brass radiators as well
but cooling properties in
that instance are due to
dilution of anti-freeze.

Leaks are a minor concern for me.
The propylene glycol offering appears to be 3x the cost of regular full-strength antifreeze.
Seemed like this offering might check all the boxes for my situation. I really don't care if it lowers the water temp, as long as it does not raise it.
Typical...
Also in Florida here, so I'll have the stock fan shroud, wetterwater, cooler running water pump, still trying to figure out radiators but would like stay with a stock appearing 22" (feel free to recommend based on your experiences), and has a 50 year old flex fan. should I go back to a stock...
Red Line WaterWetter was tested here in a 351C Ford engine. It was a fair, controlled test. It DID lower coolant temp slightly. I tried it my car & no noticed no difference....
