That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Didn't know about the mismatched hanger mounting and likely would've assumed someone tampered with them. I was thinking the six would always be on the driver's side but wasn't sure about one pipe v8's.
I am going to guess that you didn't live in California and then convince your extended family to move to Oklahoma. Maybe you did. As I said, I am guessing. If, by chance, you didn't, then I am going to consider your advice and file it under easier said than done.
I asked the original question to try to see what could be learned about the engine based on only what you could see from outside the car. What about exhaust pipes? Assuming the exhaust is stock, what can be learned from single vs. dual exhausts? Mostly focused on 66 Coronets.
All of the above, plus
5. Family that lives in this state, including three daughters that my wife won't move away from
6. If you remove politics and morons the state itself (climate, outdoor activities, etc.) is hard to beat.
Two thoughts/comments…
First, since you have a shop in mind, why not ask them. Their work order will likely have a breakdown similar to your list, and likely including things you hadn’t considered that need doing.
Second, when similar questions have been brought up in the past, the numbers...
Jeremiah is the reason I stay awake at night thinking if I sell the GTX, and the old ski boat, and recycle all my beer cans, etc. I could buy that 4 speed 66 or the green with white interior car. I damn near sold a kidney to buy the 1st gen Charger he was selling a while back.
Like many people on here I have a bad habit of looking at Mopars for sale that I have no business looking at. I often look at 66 Coronets since I had one way back in the day and wouldn't mind finding another. I have noticed that a lot of sellers (not on this site) don't mention which engine is...
I think you did fine for a four speed car. I can't find anything similar around here. Have a soft spot for 66's, especially 500's because I had one in the late 70's. But I would take a 440 four speed in a heartbeat.
Couldn't agree more. If you do it, keep the paperwork and pass it on to the buyer. I paid top dollar for a D440HP block that had supposedly been hot tanked and magged and was good to go. My local machine shop insisted on doing their own tests and the block turned out to be crap (four cracks)...
I don't doubt what you say, but at that price he is talking to collectors that want to check a box on a list of stuff they want to own. If he really wanted it to go to someone who would "enjoy" the car, he could go all Willy Wonka and just give it to me. I don't have any living Grandpa's to...
I want to start out by saying I am not trying to put you on the spot, but I have a legitimate question.
What would your shop charge to put in the floors, finish the bodywork, paint, and reassemble that car? To me, that would be ground zero. The cost of acquiring the car and parts gets added...
I am still looking for the black plastic dash pieces for a 68 Coronet R/T. One is hockey puck shaped and goes over the glove box, one goes around the radio, and one goes to the left of the dash cluster. The picture below shows part of what I am looking for.
Just got back from Las Vegas last week. You should be seeing improved city services soon from my contribution to the local economy. I should have stayed home and bought Dodge/Plymouth parts.
