Actually, that's how I did the job last year, and I'm in my 8th decade of existence. Just use the proper tool for your holdback ( ex. box-end wrench, socket on a breaker bar, etc.) sorry I can't be more specific because a job like that to me is like turning a doorknob, do it without thinking.
With the proper tools and technique there should not be too much difficulty. I usually remember a bitch job, and having done the same exact job last year, nothing comes to mind, sorry. Why can't you hold-back ?
