Morning Guy's, I do way more reading than posting but here goes. I have a 66 Coronet Ragtop. Oil pump died and took out my motor (was sold to me as a 426 Max Wedge w dual quads but turned out to be a bit of a Frankenstein build). Currently having a 440 built up (yes, I know, 66 didn't offer the 440 that year but wanted more horses than to be period correct). So. Question: I've decided to go with a clutch fan setup on a re-cored copper radiator and see clutches from $70 - $250 depending on the site. Will a $70 clutch fan do the same job? I'm interested in a mechanical thermostat option as well. Any info and suggestions on what/where to buy is much appreciated.

Go with a thermal unit. Like a Hayden 2707 standard duty or 2747 heavy duty. I'm using a 2747 on my 67 wagon w/440.

My 66 is NO clutch, Just a direct drive 18inch 7 blade OEM fan
Stock OEM shroud and 3 row recorded OEM radiator
Thermostat is a Stewart Components 180 degreee stat ( avail thus Summit )

MY cars runs right on or slightly above thermostat temps even on a 100 degree AZ day

It will creep up to maybe the 200 range in stop and go traffic on those days. But cools right down once moving

On cooler AZ winter days , Its rock solid on the stat temp and never moves
I have an aftermkt mechanical temp gauge under dash so Im not relying on the OEM temp gauge

That... is an awesomely beautiful car !!!! Good choice on the setup, just be sure the clutch selected provides the proper spacing of the fan inside the shroud.
