Don't put sealer on the bolt threads. You will hate it. Try different type of sealing washers, like a copper or aluminum, and tighten it up. The oil plug is straight threads, not meant for sealing, that's what the washer is for. If you put anything on the threads count on it ending up inside...

I don't use paper gaskets with an iron intake. You will see what's in there when you take it off. If paper tears then it's not going to work. If the paper stays intact then try putting it back on the existing gaskets.

I'd try it and reuse the gaskets and see how it goes. If it leaks you will know it by the way it runs, then you can replace the gaskets.p if needed. I'd open both sides. I don't like blocking the intake heat with a stock choke.

Stuff paper towels between the yoke nut and u joint to make sure that's where it's coming from. If it is leaking at splines you can remove yoke, clean it and pinion well and use RTV on spline ends. Yoke wont come off easily next time though.
