I kinda think the answer is in your question. Putting aside pulling the engine and testing the block before rebuilding/refreshing - something you said you didn't really want to do, which I get - the easy solution is check and resurface the heads, if they're good, get a new set of head gaskets...
depends on the QA1 k-member, but the 52315 is supposed to take stock LCA. Easy button is call QA1... they're crazy helpful. Nevertheless, Proforged fits stock, it - technically - should fit the 52315 QA1 k mamber
I have a 67 Coronet 440 and both door cards are trashed. However, I can only find new cards for a 500 and in some cases an R/T, but no 440.
Question #1 - Are the 440 and 500 cards the same?
Question #2 - If No, anyone have maroon/red cards for a 440?
At the most basic level... knowing there are other things to consider... more air allows more fuel, and the more air/fuel permitted creates more HP. At the end of the day, that's it.
One word... aftermarket. It is WAY cheaper and WAY easier to make a high powered Chevy, especially the LS... than a Mopar. And the options for a Chevy are 1000 to 1. to Mopar. No comparison at all. But is that because of design or sheer number, availability, and cost? If design, then I say Mopar...

Something has been bugging me, so I'm going to put it out there.
When I look at 440 RB, at least from 66-71, I see it as superior to the chevy BB - like a 454 - from the same timeframe. Ok, granted the stock Mopar heads, compared to a 454 Chevy BB, were slightly smaller (less flow), but a lot...
That's not a lot to go on. I would start with the easy stuff... check linkage (and confirm it is moving the shifter in the trans), fluid, drop the transpan and make sure it actually has a valve body (seen that a few times), make sure there's a converter in it (seen that too), I'm assuming the...
My 66 has it behind the glovebox and the other 66's I've seen, or had the opportunity to see the sending unit when helping with the headlights, had it in the same place. I do know those pics come from the 426 supplemental manual. So, it could be only with 426 editions.
BTW... I have a NIB RT...
The best part of the 66! Here are some pics for you. But you're going to want the service manual that has the supplement sections. Here's a link: Service Manuals – MyMopar (here is a link to the manual download...
