    Should i reuse Hydraulic lifters

Go to the parts store and get a oem style pump. A 180 thermostat. If the engine is not over heating at lower rpm and idle I do not think it's plugged. Higher rpm heating is most times caused by lack of air flow. Stock style fixed or clutch fan and shroud. Hood to radiator seal, hood to cowl...

Good thread Lloyd, to echo Greg yes there are a lot of crap lifters being sold. I still think many break in problems come from spring pressure and install height, coil bind ect. Mabey just me but it seems spring pressures have went up as lifter and cam quality have went down. As kids in the...

    Hydraulic Engine Lifters

Ron the pre 68 383 used a different size lifter/pushrod combo. You can not mix the two, that's why the parts suppliers just list 68 and up. You can use the newer 68 and up sets in the older pre 68 blocks as long as you use both new push rods and new lifters.

Need to pull the front apart on my 440.

Yes that is looking dry on the gears and cover. Thanks Don & Fran. Its pumping plenty up to the rockers and top end. Last time running we looked at the gauge at temp, 35lbs idle and 65 when you give it some rpm. What would cut flow down to the chain, and gears? Slinger is on it and ok.
