    Rear axle parts and advice

There is no endplay in a ball bearing but, a tapered roller must be adjusted for proper life, hence the OEM adjustable retaining plate on one side (right side). Left is fixed. Tapered roller bearings are optimal for side thrust, balls are meant for radial thrust with light side thrust Mike

    Rear axle parts and advice

You do not need these unless you switch back to tapered roller bearings, it appears someone already installed the green bearings. If you are referring to the casting to axle housing nuts, they are 3/8"NF. Oem are locking as I recall but, straight thread nut will do the job. Any common grease...

Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S - for the street for real?

Back when I had Hoosier street slicks, I did not want to exceed 35 MPH in the rain. Mike

Finding top dead center with a 9/16 wrench

I'm sure lots of us do that operation just to tighten flex plate cap screws. Just try not to over tighten the screws. A long wrench helps too. Mike

When you pull it out, rotate the input and feel for the issue in second gear. Then pull the side cover and look for tooth issues. Mike

    LA 318 Lifter Replacement/Recondition

You should be able to purchase a new lifter from a Dodge dealer. You can dunk the new lifter in oil before installation, just don't pump it up in the oil. Mike

    Starter hitting the headers

Is the header set meant to fit the 383 as well as 440? Don't be shy about "denting" the tubes. It is only cosmetic damage and won't affect power output (unless you go crazy with a hammer). I have used MSD starters on Dougs and TTIs without problems. Mike

    70 Charger ignition switch wiring

Yep. Pull the steering wheel and keep digging. You may have to pull all the wiring from the column. Do you have a FSM? Mike

    Trans tool question

I realized that and tried to delete my answer but, couldn't. It does do a good job if the VB is out though. Mike

    Door panel clips

I'm using the sheet metal type on my 65 build as the upholsterer swears the wire loop on the frog leg type will show through foam padding, he likes to use. Mike

Got rid of the mineral spirits in my Saftety Kleen vat finally....

I have been using Safety Kleen in my wash tank for maybe 40 years now. They take the old, clean out the sludge, and pump in the new. I don't change it very often as I do not rebuild transmissions like I used to. I changed the solvent last year and the previous batch lasted 14 years. At $600.00...
