    1972 440 oil filter

What are you using for oil filters for the 1972 440? I am using the Wix 51068 which is the long filter that is difficult to get out. Is anyone using a "shorty" filter? What's the opinion on the Wix? Thanks for any input.

    Fuel / Carb Cleaners

What do you guys use to add to the tank to clean your carb and fuel system. I've used Lucas as well as STP high mileage fuel and carb cleaner. I was recently told that marvelous mystery oil fuel additive would be better to use, so was looking to see what you guys thought.

Tube & Dipstick Measurements for 1969 Plymouth Satellite

I don't think the inquiry was vague. My reply was meant to infer that the correct amount of oil actually in the sump supercedes what a measuring stick might indicate.

No oil pressure on start up after oil change.

Can someone explain to me how the filter is to blame for the pump not priming? Exactly what is malfunctioning in the filter? If you removed the filter completely, would the pump not pump oil?

    oil for honing a cylinder?

The one we had at work used oil....but a water based coolant has oil in it. Machining parts with a lathe or milling machine used water based coolant that felt oily and nothing rusted even if the finished part wasn't whiped off.

    Hemi Oil Pump

Going through the Hemi engine in a car that I bought earlier this year. The oil pump is a HI Volume, but do not know what brand, only numbers on it are USA and 18. The rotors are rough from debris passing. What Melling pump should I get? The HV or HP? This is a street car, roller cam...

    Oil pump questions

Removed and disassembled my oil pump. When installing new O rings I see the packet says: ".078 thick, large O-ring is ONLY for stock factory and Melling M63HV pumps. Thinner .065 is ONLY for Milodon 21814 21815 pumps" Well I disassembled the pump entirely which I am regretting. Pretty sure...

Tube & Dipstick Measurements for 1969 Plymouth Satellite

Which engine? What oil pan? You're probably better off to mock it up, put measured water in it and check the stick until you get to the 5,6,7,8 quarts required. Once you're happy, dump the water, fill with cheap oil. Check it, adjust as needed, dump it and fill again. A little distilled water in...

    Charlies oil pan capacity

Ask Charlies what the oil pan capacity is. Install pan, put quoted oil amount in engine, and adjust dipstick tube length until the "Full" mark matches oil level in pan.

    Oil pump question

Do what I do. I was given a couple cases of oil when a friend sold his jet boat and didn't need it any more. I'm determined to use it. So I throw in one quart per oil change on the street/strip cars (8qt cap), and the diesel trucks.(10-14qt cap) Straight 50wt. 20 quarts to use up...... thick...

    440 oil dipstick location.

I’m no Mopar expert but I think the oil dipstick goes into the 440 block right behind the left side motor mount. Mine has a threaded plug in that location. I’ve never seen a threaded hole for the dipstick tube. What gives?

    Oil pump question

For oil pumps, High Volume = taller gear rotors High Pressure = stronger relief spring A relief spring doesn't even come into play until you hit the relief pressure. So at 20 PSI it doesn't matter what spring you have, the pump is putting out max pressure/volume regardless. With taller rotors...
