Just got done rebuilding a 70 833.What type oil should I use,Synthetic or mineral.Oem style syncro rings. Thanks,John..

Here we go... there is a bunch of threads on this one. Lots of opinions...My A-833 has Lucas 80-90 gear oil.

Conventional SAE 80W-90 gear oil works good for a A-833
I would not use Synthetic.

They will tell you gl4 rated. Sta-Lube is one of them. 80/90

A couple years ago sta-lube 85w90 gl-4 was about $30 a gallon. Now most places want $80 if you can find it. penngrade 80w90 gl-4 looks to the best deal these days and most readily available. Some people use atf.
