Dougs D452 headers RB motor. Everything cleared well until I tried to install the passenger side torsionbar. I did a little research and that seems to be a common problem. Drivers side cleared everything including the mini starter
Yes, this is both a snarky jab at this thread and @gtxrt's outdated ideas as to what constitutes good alignment specs for a B-body and a mindbarf of my thoughts and experiences about Mopar suspension. In my not-so-humble opinion, I'm hoping this thread might actually help those of us who are new...
I posted a thread 'Firm Feel II box installation' week or two ago concerning the left tie rod hitting the torsionbar and center rod dragging across my TTI header left side (redone poly - 63 Ply new mounts). Have received some replies that I'm following up on. Along the trail of retracing all...
Torsionbar stiffness is Diameter to the 4th power. So a small increase in diameter can add a lot of stiffness. The 1.03 bars will be almost twice as stiff as the 0.890 bars. That is a big jump to make, you'll feel the difference that is for sure. Do you have a big anti-sway bar on the car? If...
I had some posts back & for long time ago about significant modification of alignment necessary to gain a great non-wandering steer...my car has it after FF II box install and trying to hunt down my old notes on this. Reason I'm posting again here (in the hunt for my steering linkage playing...
"Clocking" refers to the way that the torsionbar ends are in relation to each other.
Call it a "twist" if you will. It is nothing the installer does, it is how the bar is made.
@Budnicks
You know I bought ALL QA1 front suspension parts, K-member too, but just like you, I chose the (old) SPC UCAs, because they offer tremendous adjustment and I heard from experienced, talented, friendly (guys I've known for decades or done business with) "Your UCAs don't have enough...
I stumbled upon a show last evening called Big Easy Motors, 4 guys in NOLA who flip cars. This particular episode was about 'restomodding' a 1968 Plymouth Fury III they called Franken Fury. This post is not about the show, which was unwatchable at times, but rather the build.
(Taken from the...
James, @PST I just set the car on the ground, cranked the torsionbars up a little more and turned the wheels lock to lock and then let it settle in the middle and the washers are still touching. The front part of the sway bar that humps over the core support brace is about 3/8" from touching...
Not really but then again I have not messed with a lot lately. I did play with unbolting the torsionbar but in the orientation I had the gate it was still under tension. I later figured out that I needed to have it more closed (I think). Its really kind of confusing, the manual isn't clear...
was watching the show Texas metal last night (something I almost never do) and they were working on a 65 Belvedere. they were swaping out the aluminum headed big block to install a modern 392.....well when they removed the front suspension they chop sawed the torsionbar …..Efin Hacks.....

This is kind a what I was wondering about with modifying the alignment to improve the steering as reading about in another post (How much caster is too much?). I mentioned having jotted down info and lost those notes, but thought could it be too much for the oem suspension/linkage without some...
After pulling the starter to secure the wiring, as it was loose on the terminal, my question is how can one adhere or "stick" the Header Gasket to the Header when attempting to re-attach the header to the engine?
1. Drivers side
2. 426 Hemi
3. TTI headers
4. Torsionbar in place
Can a person use...
I tried the US car tools , once in a 1970 Cuda I did . When it came to routing brake, and fuel lines and emergency brake cable system was a royal pain
No thanks. the next time I made my own
Going off memory here so bear with me.
I think I used 2 x2.5" box tubing . I think they were .080...
Thanks! I think I'll just stick with changing the ratio and adding posi then.
I chose this shop very carefully and have been working with the owner for months on planning this upgrade. They are licensed to install TREMECs in B body mopars from a company that makes a kit especially for doing so...
The way I would do it is mount the steering box and idler arm then attach the link. Tighten everything as you go. Can’t forget that way. Then I’d put the rod ends into the tie rods and mount the inner end to the cross link. I’d leave these adjustments loose, let tie rods hang. Next I’d pull...
Have you seen this four page document for reassembly? If you have I apologize for sending it. it definitely helped me.
