Reading the posts, I posted a thread about my Firm-Feel II install on my '63 Plymouth. What's happened is the left end rod has rubbed against the torsionbar (photo) shearing off the grease fitting and more (how I discovered the ill) and the cross link playing violin on the left TTI header...
I thought i would send another update.... after further inspection.... my torsionbars were the wrong ones .88 and i have a 440 and one of the bars was actually bent! I bought PST 1.03" - they installed perfectly and the car rides like a champ!
What prompted me in my last post was I thought...
HI. It sounds like you have a fun project in your future. One additional item that will play into this is your selection of tires (and probably wheels). Sticky tires are going to be the most important part of making your car handle better. Other items will need to be addressed, but without...
Yes it’s all finished. It turned into a really big project. It requires a lot more modifications to install one of these transmissions in a 73-74 due to the torsionbar crossmember being in the way. That crossmember needs to be removed and the chassis needs to be modified so the bars mount into...
Hahaha. Wow.
Yet another reason for me to not watch those programs. The "manufactured drama" turned me off of those shows years ago. I like to learn things and be entertained not frustrated.
Thanks for being nice and spelling it out for me! ... I can update you (PM or here) on how it went... Everyone has their specialty. I've never done this before. I am doing EVERYTHING myself, not an excuse for ignorance, but just because I have a bit of a learning disability, and it takes me a...
It's only greased, when you install the bars...both hex ends. One time deal. Keeps 'em from turning into rusted junk. Those hexes go through a lot of strain, lube lets 'em work.
The 1.03" bars that we offer are designed with a 20 degree clocking or preload. I believe the sway away are flat-flat or zero clocked. You may want to ask them. We had had this design at one point as it was directed more towards the pro-touring and lowered crowd. You can attain stock ride height...
I have a rebuilt heater/defroster unit that I can install but for now, I might loop the fittings on the water pump housing.
I sandblasted the fan clutch....I found one in the stash that is OEM and still functional. I have several fans to choose from. Some 5 blade, some 7. I've ran both on Ginger...
I've got a bent strut rod that's throwing off alignment.
Question is can I remove AND install a new one without removing the torsionbar and LCA?
Thanks,
Patrick
I installed a new set of torsionbars on my 69 Bee. Left side went fine, on the right side the bar did not slide in all the way to it's normal resting point. Upon further inspection I found a gap between the LCA bushing and the K frame. I tried loosening the strut bar, jacking it up, tapping on...
Easily recoverable...unless if you live near one of our Superstar Moderators..."KIWI"....all is replaceable, cost effectively...
Forum can talk you through it..
(Happened to me and the 70' Superbee 2005)
So some "idiot" removed every part of my entire front suspension a "couple" years ago (engine/trans/K-member not removed), and now he can't figure out in what order to re-assemble.
The car is a '73 Road Runner. Frontend is on jack stands.
This "idiot" sandblasted and painted and/or RPM (Rust...
So, finally got to spend some real time near the car since I first posted the initial pictures. Did a bit of digging. Knocked around the frame rails to the degree I could reach with the car on wheel dollies (which was quite a bit despite laying on the freezing concrete floor). Also after...
without weight and or relieving the torsionbar and the removal of the sway bar....you only working at a preset unladed condition given you still have your upright (spindle) in place and ball joints firmly attached.....you should be able to continue the install....now if you need to swap out the...
My wife and I were actually "extras" on an episode of Big Easy Motors. They had contacted us through a friend of mine who has a beautiful 70 Roadrunner, and we discussed the possibility of being in the show.
They used her GTO as one of about 4 cars parked outside their shop in the street as they...
