Still in stock configuration. But I have checked voltages and I have power when I should and don't have it when I shouldn't. At the relay and at the starter.
When you loosen the bolts, you of course then have a little play, but you hold/pry the starter over a little as soon as you draw up the bolts, that pulls it right back even if you try to hold/pry it over at the same time. And yes, I think that is some damage to the gear that has occurred from...
New member and not real good with a computer. The ring gear at the bottom of the bell housing is only about 1/4" from gear to housing. Converter seems to measure 11.5" with 130 teeth. Does that seem correct?
Do you think that the new torque converter/ring gear could possibly be faulty? Like the gear is not machined properly? Because it really looks like the starter gear is too close to the ring gear. When I hook up a starter button directly from the battery to the starter, I hit the button about 6...
How do you make an adjustment between the flywheel and the starter? The nose of the starter fits back in the hole in the bell housing and two bolts for the starter. I even elongated the mounting holes in the starter a little to see if that would help but it didn't.
The dowels are in the block. Cleaned up the U area with a grinder. I think the tin seal plate that you are referring to is the plate that goes between the starter and the bell housing and yes it is in there. The relay is releasing. When you engage the starter with the flywheel, the bendix will...
Working on a 1970 Superbird. I had the motor and transmission rebuilt. Owner wanted headers so I installed a mini starter from Summit. Fired the engine to break in the cam but had to shut it down due to the starter bendix not returning, stayed engaged with the flywheel/torque converter. I have...
