I got ask. Are you checking timing with the VA unhooked. If it where hooked up to manifold vacuum it could go down when you open the throttle blades.

I have no idea what size the orifice is for the return. If it is 1/4" with no orifice to reduce the flow, you will end up starving your engine. If it were me, I would use the the correct PN......this one You could try the aftermarket stuff. they are cheaper for sure but sometimes you end up...

I concur. Use the right size on your first fuel filter change. Wait till you get a few under your belt.

Didn't they have trouble with those distributors? Didn't Rick Ehernberg write about MP Mallory distributors in Mopar Action that they were troublesome.

Your problem is where the dim light is. Bulb, wires, socket or ground are possibilities. I suspect ground.
