I think with heavy scale, the chemicals don't do the complete job. It will look pretty on the outside though.

In the past Auveco was the company that made a variety of those clips, from .5" wide to 4" wide, some snap in the holes from around 1/4" to around 1/2" others have a stud that accepts a nut if you have access to the back of the panel... I've used a bunch of them, they may not look OE but once...
