Wow, you are lucky. It seems rare that that the...
Need a 66 b Body column with the l-o-n-g steering shaft for a manual box.
PM please, with length of shaft measured from the collapsed coupler to the nut that holds the wheel!
THANKS!!!
so I've got a couple weird issues that i have yet to really get in and diagnose.
1. I'm running an external walbro255 fuel pump that is being toggled to run the FAST as a no-return line. It has either collapsed the pickup because I modified the stock sender, or it's overheating (or both), but...
It is common for people to just extend it. I personally would buy a non collapsed or non extended shaft or a whole column to get shaft from. Though they don't provide much resistance the plastic shear pellets in column shafts do prevent shaft from moving with extreme instances of inertia or...
So, nearing the end of our restoration, I decided to tackle freshening up the steering column since we are now done with shows with this car till next year. Here are a couple pics of the steering column disassembled with a picture of the steering column shaft showing where the black paint...
I've got a 69 Charger w/ 440 mag, power steering and an automatic that shifts on the steering column. Don't ask but I managed to sheer the nylon pins on the steering column resulting in the shafts telescoping in around an inch or so. I was looking for a temp fix since I plan on switching to a...
Hey MoparfanUSA, my column is currently collapsed by about an inch or so I'm not sure measuring that one would work for you. However I've got another one that should be here on Monday that I can measure for you. --------- Mark.

I posted this over on Moparts as well, thought I'd cast a wide net for answers.
Hi all,
does anyone know the actual lengths of the steer shafts for a 71 B body - Satellite - pwwr steering car.
I have 2 - one @ 42" & one @ 40.5", I assumed the 40.5" was for power steering & installed...
I'm trying to put a parts list together and I'm getting frustrated.:angryfire:
When I got the car the steering column was definitely screwy looking to me. The inner shaft wasn't centered in the tube and the plastic seal retainer was sitting on top of the steering coupler. I also noticed the...
I'll try help as best I can because I just disassembled by column shifted steering column from my 71 charger last week to refurbish and repaint. Sorry i didn't take any pics but it was last week so my memory is fresh. My column was in poor shape and the outer tube was bent when i took it...
Wow...Common practice? Really? I've been messing with this stuff since the mid 60's and I've never heard of a dealership 'breaking' a steering column to do that. Not saying it never happened but I can't wrap it around my head that it was common practice. I even took one apart to see how it...
Xs2!!
No dealer that had any idea of the BAD liability position they were putting themselves in would EVER do that. It was a factory safety feature that they were eliminating. It would be like repairing a car today that the air bags had deployed and they didn't install NEW air bags.
On the column those thing are made to collaspe in an accident . , So lot of times they are short because they have collasped . I have seen it alot . They look normal but have collapsed internally .
hollander interchange shows 71-73 floor shift , but that there is a manual and power box...
I ran across this a while back and if you take your column apart you will find the main shaft is a telescopic one made to collapse when hit hard enough (I have seen very few collapsed in some pretty hard hits), They used a hot nylon injected into a cross hole and it would shear upon impact...
