I've been looking at different wheel sizes and tire availabilities with the appropriate speed ratings to pass tech inspection for higher speeds for Open Road racing.
The tire options are slim with the 15 in wheels and there are many choices until you get to 18 in and bigger. I have a 70 Road...
Nope. Tire designations indicate, section width. So, on the checking rim, a 235 is supposed to be somewhere around 235mm section width.
Other than that, right!
When the 62 is sitting level, what are the inches to the top of the wheel openings -- Front ? -- Back ? -- Don't care about tiresizes -- Just sitting level. ------ My real question is -- Are they the same, when the car is sitting level ?
related but not the same car for sale.... there was one that sold there last year.... i can see the tiresizes, but anyone know what the BS is on the wheels on this one is? American Racing Baja black 8 holes.
BAJA
on this car.
1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440
I like the look. I went with the same wheel and tiresizes as you. Just a nice balance. Was on the fence for the Diamondback redlines, but decided to go with a stickier rear tire
Look at tire size charts and try to understand aspect ratios. The sizes listed in the OP would result in a taller tire in the front, not a good look imho…
...lower the rear will the tires clear the fender wells. I can't tell from the pictures what the rear suspension looks like.
I will have to look and see what my tiresizes are, but they are as big as I could get and not scrub on the inside or outside of the fenderwells and allow suspension travel.
Looking for advice on tiresizes for my wheels. They are 15x7 with 4” backspace on the front and 15x8.5 with 5” back space on the back. Any suggestions for tiresizes that would fit best with no rubbing on the wheel wells? These are on a 69 charger that I’m swapping out the original 14” steels
There are quite a few threads concerning wheel and tire size. Give it a quick search and you’ll find more info about it than you’ll ever need.
And btw the sizes you mentioned are perfectly fine as long as your back spacing/ offset is in the neighbourhood of centre
Nice thing about 17" wheels
you can fit many aftermarket disc brake kits w/far more room
& on a bigger wheel well like the B-bodies have in 68-70 anyway
17 front & 18's rear is the about the biggest I'd do, fits nicely
if you get the right tire/wheel combo, it 'still looks good'
& not too...
I have 205/75/15's for front runners and they can be mounted on 5 inch wheels per manf. specs. The taller sidewall allows it (and fills the wheel well). So you might want to look at a taller ratio tire for the skinny fronts.
Your challenge is going to be finding one radial tire that is offered...
...to solve for speed given the same variables. The info you gave me was perfect to estimate how far off the Speedo would be with different tiresizes - replacing stock F14s with the 255/60 15s on it now.
The answer, not much difference at all. So for what I am doing it was what I was looking...
Not 100% sure on the 71-72
but;
They do have a decent size wheel well
needs tires & wheels to fill it out
the std p245/60/15r front a 15x7" to 15x8" 4 to 4-1/2" BS
as long as it will clear tie-rods ends or the inner frame,
inside of the tires at full lock
& p295/50/15r rear a 15x9" with...
