The 440 stroker with 440sourceheads, the #4 (or #6) plug is really close to the inner fender.
I got the pricy (I think $35-$40 several years ago) Snap-On flank drive low profile spark plug socket to get that plug in and out.
I see a few other brands making something like it for about 1/2 the...
I am in the process of negotiating on a 72 charger. The car is a bit of a Frankenstein, at the same time it has a lot of potential. The car currently comes with a 400 / 727 combo with 3.91 diffy.
The goal is to make 425 hp/500 tq on pump gas. I also want to run a therm-quad as well as HP...
Open to help here. 400/512 stroker. Herbert hyd roller cam, 485/500 1.5 lift. 64 Sport Fury convt, 4 speed. I've been looking into heads. I would go 440source, but by the time you make all of the changes for roller cam, you might as well go Trick Flow. I had bought proform roller rocker setup a...
That was part of my confusion on the valve gear. They recommend Harland Sharp, adding 1k to the mix. Are there other, options that would work? As we all know, our Mopars creep up on the expenses quickly. I do appreciate your input.
here's some stuff in the C body thread from 2020:
so one guy with identical engine and electric pump setup runs a fuel pressure regulator.
also, we now know the engine builder set the timing chain at 2 degrees advanced. how much ground-in advance does this cam already have?
I had a 440 based 496 that used a 440source kit. I used a 6bbl intake, hydraulic roller cam and eddy aluminum heads. It has been a few years since the build and I don't own the car any more, so I don't have the cam specs or recall which heads were used. It was a blast to drive. Below is the...
Strip it down to the shortblock and find a good machine shop.
I see rust in the bores so it likely needs to be bored .020 over at a minimum.
You can bring them the heads and they can recommend options for rebuilding / replacing.
Aluminum heads are a good option: 440source Stealth, Edelbrock...
Tried the Powermaster 9523 however wouldn't fit and can't find any mini starter besides the RobbMc that will work and even then you have to make adjustments to the header tubes for clearance.
So far, courtesy of my paying project[ see picture], I have the funds to get the machine work on the block done. Thanks to Lloyd aka Beanhead for hooking me up with a machinist out of Fresno. With my next payday, I'll have the funds for the pistons[ cast 66-71 units], Moly rings, cam and crank...
I have a 69 440, stock bottom end with 440source aluminum heads, lunati 703 voodoo cam, headers, factory electronic ignition, edelbrock performer intake, and edelbrock 800 cfm avs2. 3.55 gears and an od 4 speed.
The car is fantastic, It’ll cruise highways without breaking a sweat and get 15 +...
Hello everyone !!!

We rebuild my 440cui RB-Block and stroke them to 512 cui with 440source kit .
after we using brand new 240 Trickflow heads for the upper part, and because I want change my ignition from revanator system to the MSD system I try...
Thanks for the input guys. I've decided to keep MAXIMVS and do a few mods, keep in mind that the car is NOT an original max wedge car:
- Do a new engine with lower compression, about 10:1, 440source 500 CID stroker kit on a 440 RB base. The old high compression engine will be sold complete...
The machine work to fit billet main caps is really expensive, and I think over kill at 600 HP. Check what your machine shop charges to fit the main caps to the block.
Do use main studs. With the studs, the mains might need align honed, but that us way less expensive than align boring...
That should be a very good block. Here is some info from 440source. You can see more by going to the 440source website.
For most applications, this block was used for their "Heavy duty truck or industrial 413" engine. This is the setup with the huge (5 bolt) water pump and housing and...
