I'm trying to install a new lock on my 72 glove box. I know there's a tab that has to be depressed to lock the cylinder in to keep it from coming out, but it seems that the cylinder is too long. The same is true for the old lock. I can't push it in far enough to get the tab to engage...
If the lifter is not machined correctly I am not sure the coating will make much difference - they will most likely still fail.
Even if they don't wipe out the lobe, the modern one's leak down very fast, noisy, and no coating on earth will fix that.
The quality control is rubbish when they are...
