Hello guys. Been off here for a while. No did not lose touch.

...went south with the runner for a while. First rad fan took out the radiator. Then cracked head on driver's side. Put on a set of 440 source heads. Then a partiality filter blew out. Now trying to dial the motor back in with the new 650 Holley brawler four-barrel single pumper. Back on the...

    Bee Post car progress

I dont post on here very much, but I thought Id post up some progress pics of my Bee. Mind you Im doing 99% of this my self in my little shop. Engine is a 434 I built out of some good used parts I had laying around, a 440 crank that was cut too far to be used in a 440, etc etc,, Source heads...

    Rebuilding a 400.

400's are great. I would be tempted to build a stock stroke 400 with high compression pistons but it sounds like your crank needs machining. In that case I would be tempted to do a 440 source stroker kit (likely a 451 kit). Then as that blows the budget a bit I wouldn't be against bolting on the...

“Video” Another Possible Hydraulic Roller Lifter Failure?

I have Morel hydraulic lifters in my 440 and I'm on my 3rd year with no problems at all. I pull the valve covers every spring and check things over. I run nothing but 5W30 or 10W30 oil. Morel recommends nothing heavier than 10W30 oil and 99% of the time I run Valvoline 10W30 VR1 oil even though...

    Your thoughts?

Seems line they all fit well. First ever for my „building“ an engine. The guy from the machine shop also said that it should be okay, not the best solution but it should work.

Summit Racing brand Gas Ported Piston Rings?

Even the Moly rings are expensive now. Total Seal Moly rings from 440 Source are $175, Summit Racing is almost the same price ($164) Hastings Moly rings are $148. This was looking at the 4.375" bore 1/6x1/6x3/16" rings. For expensive, look at doing cylinder heads with Beryllium Copper valve...

    67 Satellite 383 refresh - questions/advice

...I am strongly considering going with a set of 440 Source “Stealth” aluminum heads and possibly their aluminum dual plane intake. The 440 Source heads are spec’ed at 80cc so the CR would stay about the same unless I make other changes like milling the heads or block, changing pistons or some...

    Another Camshaft Question

I was going through my garage and I have some parts I purchased back in 2018 with plans to hop up my old 440, what I am wondering is if this cam amd rocker assembly is to aggressive for a street car and more set up for a street strip leaning towards strip setup i would like to get more power...

    I need 915 head advice

Unless you need to use the original iron heads, I would just get some aluminum heads, Maybe the 440 Source Stealth? They have the straight stock like spark plug locations. I don't know how manifolds fit with the Edelbrock angled plug RPM heads? With the Iron heads, the bowl area above the...

    BB Engine question

Stay away from Hughes. Their better days are behind them. If you want to retain a more stock looking head upgrade go with the 440 Source heads. If you want a better flowing head Edelbrock Performer RPM would be my choice. You'll have to be careful on a 383 with the smaller bore size using some...

    440 Source heads ??

I just got a set of the stealth heads from 440 Source. Do the factory pushrods work with these heads. And will i need to open the pushrod bore as I have the 3/8 pushrods. It's a stock 440+6.

All else being equal, what power gains could be expected from Trick Flow 240s over Edelbrock heads on a 500 cube mill ?

Thats the same cam I have in the Convertible 505" stroked 440. 440 source 4.25" stroker kit with the 17cc dished pistons and stealth heads (minor bowl and port clean up with valve job, flowed a bit over 290 cfm) with HS 1.6:1 rockers. I used the ISKY 8005A valve springs and Comp 748-16...

    New distributor

Was given an Engine Works 4RTR-383 distributor. (The copy of the MSD 8386 RRR ) Put it in my low deck stroker, set it to 30 total advance. On a 544/541 summit hydraulic roller cam with 440 source heads. When I step on it I get a steady backfire out the exhaust. What are your thoughts?

    71 Coronet Wagon

I was planning to put the 440 in but before I got to it, I found a 400/440 crank engine for less than 440 source charges for the rotating assembly, which would fit under the hood with no issues. This was .040 over, 440 source crank, icon pistons and an unknown cam, Performer RPM intake and stock...

    Trick flow 240 rabbit hole

...then clean out when driving. And I also do some race stuff 700 to 800 HP mopar and chevy engines as well. Nothing wrong with the 440 source heads but they basically flow like a hand ported 906 head, and you get some improvement from the reduction in weight and a smaller combustion chamber...

    Plug Gap

Running NGK BKR5EIX-11 plugs in a 440 with 440 source heads, hydraulic roller cam, Edelbrock performer RPM intake AVS2 carb and Mopar distributor and a FBO box and stock exhaust manifolds in a 4 speed car. Plugs out of the box are gapped at .040, run them like that or re gap to .035

    My old 64

I see my old man's "pwdave" post on here and he had said the engine was a 509 cubic inch stroker. I know it has eddy heads and a 440 source kit in it but I'm curious. What is the bore and stroke of this thing? Sorry if I sound ignorant.

    451 or 496 Stroker?

I have a 496" stroker in my '69 Coronet using the 383 block and a 440 Source kit with lightened crank and their CNC ported heads. It's bolted up to a built 727 with a 3,000 stall converter and 3.54 gear. Believe me, it's all this old man can handle on the street.

    73 Charger return of Ruby…

Well, I finally have some progress on my car. Originally I purchased this with a 383 and a sketchy paint job. There are pics here in the forum(lost all my pics from a phone/cloud debacle) Anywho, bought a 1977 440 complete engine from a member here. Sent it off to Steve Nicoll Racing for a...

    New intake

I think they would be good for 470-528 stroker motors that are mostly street driven with 500-600 HP. The curved runners still give it some bottom end and the low height allow it to fit under the hood without too much hassle. Plenty of torque to spare on the street anyways with those strokers...
