There is a small pump (I believe it's a 4 lobe epitrochiod type, similar to the engine's oil pump) mounted on the back of the housing, driven by the compressor's crankshaft....perhaps your pump was inoperative or it's oil pickup tube was blocked. The pressure switch should have prevented the...
Careful with that Mopar Connection article, it promotes the parallel “shunt wire bypass” approach, just more misinformation about this charging system I’m afraid. Circuit protection for the entire vehicles unfused wiring and components is severely altered with that parallel wire run. Voltmeter...
He's a little concerned and would like a little more hot idling oilpressure. No big deal, a lot of people are like that. It won't go up at cold idle with thicker oil because the M-63HV bypasses at around 75 psi. That's why he has 70-80 now.
I don't understand "bored for a bigger cam". It sounds like you are having problems with your automatic choke. This can be difficult to sort out, as it can only be done with a cold engine/carb. Low oilpressure with no loose bearing sounds could be cam bearings. Back to the mysterious "bored for...
Ohh..well as I had the pan off, I just did pressure going into the oil galleys from the bottom? I was getting air up top. Thats when I ran the camera into the right water bank looking for air bubbles with soap water and WD and I found no leaks there. Now that won't get me to the web, but...
Ok, I very carefully installed my wire set-up on my 727, making sure the hole on the carb lever was exactly where it should be (I took the special mopar bouchillion throttle plate to double check with.)
I tested several arms (Different lengths) down on the throttle lever on the 727.
I got a...
Hey all, so yesterday I was tearing apart my 383 from 69. Since it lost oilpressure last year and while I was tearing it down, I found that some of the very outer edges of the cam lobes were pretty jagged but all the lifters looked in good shape and the lobes themselves looked fine as well. I...
I still say everything could be fine. When people get low hot oilpressure they think they have a "bad" oil pump. No. These oil pumps almost never give it up. I started a 55 year old Road Runner with the original oil pump a few months ago. The pressure relief was stuck. I don't know how much oil...

Nearing completion of my 67 gtx restoration and have run into a problem with the oilpressure warning light.
I have put an original 426 Hemi 4 speed into my gtx, an original 440 car. Purchased all new m&h hemi underdash, front engine/light harnesses and positive battery cables.
The...
Your oilpressure is too low! It should be between 40 and 45 psi no matter what oil you use! I personally use the 20/50 Castrol in my 440 that was built in 98 and runs as strong today as the day it was built! Sounds like you have a weak spring in the oil pump
the 69 and earlier cars do not have a low pressure cut out switch. The compressor does have it's own "pump" and I believe that is for oiling the crank, the top end (pistons & rods) will not be lubricated unless the system is charged. Mine was a completely rebuilt unit by an experienced shop and...
I like to move the push rod up and down and gently tighten the adjuster till there is no more movement. I find with the spin technique its possible to start depressing the lifter plunger. Most adjusters are 24 threads per inch. So 1/2 turn gives .021 and 3/4 turn gives .031. I have adjustable...
Here is a video I took after I drove it around for about 10min. Car also drives fine and smooth and no white smoke.
Here is the oilpressure at cold start up.
Whole lot of difference between 30wt and 50wt. I'm not 100% with you on this because I've been thru this. I don't like heavy oils and use straight 30wt as my limit but an hv pump will only make very marginal low rpm differences and I think he already has an hv pump on the engine. There are no...
A snapped driveshaft is commonly from a piece of crap getting sucked in locking up the pump.. otherwise there's no reason the shaft would just " break"
Brand new, never used, Chrysler 485hp small block crate engine.
We had planned to install this engine into a Dodge Street car project however due to health issues we decided to stop the project and sell the parts.
It was stored for some time so we had it internally inspected and it's in great...
I agree with Doug here. I had a Centerforce diaphragm clutch but with the 6 paddle metallic disk. It was a very nice clutch and easy pedal pressure.
A 493 is going to be making some power, but it might not be that hard on the clutch if you’re not running slicks. The diaphragm clutches have a...
This is an interesting perspective. I have been thinking about this subject and have dealt with oilpressure lower than I'd prefer, despite a fresh rebuild with bearing clearances. I used a standard oil pump when I built the engine in 2022. I didn't like the pressure but read about changing the...
This is what I get for running my mouth. But at least I didn’t put any oil down.
Saturday after my second pass the engine was running rough on the return road and the oilpressure seemed a little low. But it was only 15 minutes between runs so the oil was pretty hot.
I nosed the car into the...
