    Brake flaring tool question

Maybe the Snap-On version is better than the generics you get at the auto parts store. THOSE flex and don't allow for a good grip, leading to crooked flares or damaged lines.

Have you tried using ChatGPT ?

It sure is not perfect. I gave it THIS picture.... Asked for them to change the wheels to ET Wheels, LTIII V. I figured the program would know what those wheels are. No.... I get a 15 inch wheel that is different from the ET wheels and they cut the ends off of the car. I posted this for...

The Gold Fairy is alive and well . . .

No moderator will come right out and admit it but it is BS that the site does not automatically give them the GOLD status. Without it, how would you be able to check in on the segments only Gold members have? You're expected to moderate but have to pay to access the whole site?

    Brake flaring tool question

Sorry, Carl...THOSE suck! These don't: Eastwood.... Mount the unit in a vise to hold it steady. Choose the size of the die you need... The dial has all the sizes shown to make it easy.

    Initial Steering Set Up

On stock steering boxes, there is a flat spot at 12:00 when the guts of the box are centered. With the Borgeson, you have to either rotate it full left then right to establish center or use a torque wrench to find the point with the highest torque resistance. Screw that....I just rotated the...

    Initial Steering Set Up

The pitman arm only fits 4 ways, three of them put the arm in a position that absolutely will not work. Realistically, there is only one right way it goes on. Look close. There are 4 flat spots 90 degrees apart. You would have to be really drunk to install it wrong.

What do you think of these rims on a Charger?

I tried a few different looks for my car.

CPW Fall Fling Oct 18th 2025 Woodley Park Van Nuys CA

Maybe, but WTF is all this stuff ??? Hey, it may crowd the engine bay and make it difficult to check the oil, change spark plugs, valve cover gaskets or add brake fluid but at least it adds weight and accomplishes nothing.

    Is your job boring?

My job was often quite fun. I miss it almost every day lately. Framing houses was a blast. It was hard work but I loved it. The smell of fresh lumber, the sounds of saws spinning and music on the radio, the snap-snap-snap of the nail guns.... I am still in good shape and can...

Swapping a Borgeson steering box in a 1970 Charger

Years ago before the Borgeson steering box was widely available, Mopar Action magazine had an article named Pump it down where they added shims in between the bolt and the body of this valve.... Since then, I've read from several Mopar guys that used shims that added up to a range of .090 to...

Alignment at home and aftermarket UCAS too.

Don't ever do this, ever..... Hey, you made it harder to do everything, blocked most of the engine and actually made zero change in handling but at least you added weight in the front.

Lookie here - popped up in my YT feed.....

He lets other people drive his car when he has a beer in his hand. Several people have driven his car. I did. When someone slides aside and lets me behind their wheel, I am usually hesitant to romp on it. I was surprised at how well his 4 wheel drums worked. Every other drum brake car I've...

Rear shoulder belts in a 1970 Charger

The mounting face of the retractor has a locating peg with the mounting hole below. Rich tested how far the retractor can be out of plumb before the belt won't roll out. Straight up and down like this, no problem. About 10 degrees or so, it was starting to either spin freely or lock. I...

Rear shoulder belts in a 1970 Charger

That right side mounting base was welded and holes were punched so I can plug weld it to the car. I do need to get the retractors so I can establish the exact mounting position. Rich sent me the measurements so I knew the vertical height these brackets need to be. I'll drill holes and weld a...

What do you think of these rims on a Charger?

No offense but..... I don't like any of those wheels. This is just my opinion so don't get pissed at me! That 'Cuda looks great with the wheels partly because I personally see the "Cuda as a car ripe for a modern wheel design. The big 5 spoke design reminds me of the IROC wheels that came on the...

What do you think of these rims on a Charger?

Thank you. My goal was to have a modern version of a 5 spoke like a Cragar. Some people don’t like the larger diameter wheels and in many cases, I agree with them. Razor thin sidewalls are not for me. To the original point though… I agree with Delta. Thin spokes show more brake components...

Roadkill and other car related TV shows

If a woman OR a man is on a show and is actually knowledgeable, I give them respect. If they are just eye candy or if the show has two dorks talking about the products…. Then it cuts to commercials and the project is DONE when the ads are over, that is bullshit. Those shows might as well be...

Rear shoulder belts in a 1970 Charger

The non matching angles for the diagonal braces still cracks me up. Was this a Friday car? Moving on… This means I can’t just make matching mounting bases for each side. Each will be similar in function but shaped slightly different. It is obvious that I was not trained in fabrication but I do...
