I misspoke. I dropped a lifter and don’t have my engine back together yet. My pump has three shims in it when I took it apart a while back, sorry I don’t know what I was thinking.Im going to take one shim out to get more pressure and hopefully that takes care of it without any extra hissing sound.
At this point, I've had the headers on and off so much that I'm getting pretty good at doing it relatively quickly. The borgeson box and mini starter make it a lot easier too
I installed a Borgeson 800338 power steering pump and a Lares steering gear 11033. I need to get a new pressure side line for it. Anything wrong with how this original line is placed or dos it need to be tweaked?
I would say anything that keeps you driving and enjoying your car is worth while. Call Peter at Bergman Auto Craft. He should have a complete kit with the Borgeson steering box.
since installing the Borgeson, what's the longest amount of drive time you've done? Me zipping around town for 20 min blasts didn't do anything to the PS pump with my new Borgeson, but it seems the two runs of 3hr drives in the same day might have.
I’m getting ready to install the Borgeson box in my car. I installed one in my friends car a while ago, there’s no noise whatsoever and it steers perfect. He bought his at the same time he bought mine for the labor to install his. These were purchased in 2022 I believe.
Im looking into buying a 73 roadrunner that has the factor power steering installed. Is there any way I can install the 14:1 Borgeson unit and re-use the factory pump?
I agree with going for the Borgeson steering gear since you already have the Borgeson pump. I have heard the Borgeson pump needs to have the pressure toned down a bit if using with a stock steering gear. It will work perfectly with the Borgeson gear.
