yeah, i was wondering if the borgeson uses slightly larger holes.. right now it's not a big thing but it's something i want to take care of when the motor is out (if i ever get my block back from machining)
There have been reports of a H I S S sort of noise, others mention a sort of HUMM. Either way, this is a form of resonance that may be related to the output of the P/S pump itself. The stock steering box was very forgiving of pump pressure variations but the Borgeson seems to be more finicky.
If the Lares unit is a direct bolt in for a fair price, I can see the appeal. I bought the Borgeson because I wanted better feel than any rebuilt original and the weight savings is great. I look to shed weight where I can with the car.
Not with me, personally. I like food.
The cooler usually...
A good rebuilt original mopar box is not terrible but still nowhere near as responsive as a Borgeson unit.
Yeah, it isn’t cheap but it is a definite improvement.
I've heard this before. It seems to be a characteristic that many of them have. Functionally, the Borgeson unit is excellent. The noise they make is considered normal.
I put a borgeson on my 72 charger and it is nice. question is what do I do with the old original one? scrap it? I hate throwing things away, but I need to do something.
...shield. Kind of a tough thing to do mentally, installing a rag joint, going backwards of sorts but really didn’t like the noise. Wanted the Borgeson box, didn’t want to cut the shaft to accommodate the Borgeson Mopar isolation coupler. From my research, it was only the factory rag-jointed...
I just ordered one of those coolers too off of Amazon. Wanted to have that on hand, plus a pair of filters, for when I can put the Borgeson box/pump from BAC on the wagon.
Did you buy the pump from Borgeson directly?
I literally just went though this same situation. Installed the Borgeson box + pump and same results, drives great when cold and then after it warms up, the steering gets hard a low speeds. Added a cooler, nothing. Changed fluids 3-4 times, nothing...
...Normally you remove the box and have it rebuilt by some place like Firm Feel or replace it with another reman/new box or something like a Borgeson box (see the ad on the right side at the top).
I have 2 Firm Feel stage 3 boxes and 1 Borgeson box, I really like the firm feel boxes because...
I remember you.
You used to post over at the Charger forum. I haven't seen you over there in awhile. Didn't we chat about the Borgeson steering box and an overdrive transmission?
I go through points where I am not so motivated. It helps to have friends around that have old cars like me.
