Wheel & Tire combo suggestions for high speed Open Road racing?

I've been looking at different wheel sizes and tire availabilities with the appropriate speed ratings to pass tech inspection for higher speeds for Open Road racing. The tire options are slim with the 15 in wheels and there are many choices until you get to 18 in and bigger. I have a 70 Road...

Crager Wheels and tires, 71 Charger SE – keep or replace?

The sizes I have are as stated. I did a google search on the P275/60 R16 tire and looked through a catalog I had. It’s going to be a challenge to get that tire size as time goes on.

best tire combo? 275/60/15 rear.. 235/60/15 looks short for front.

Nope. Tire designations indicate, section width. So, on the checking rim, a 235 is supposed to be somewhere around 235mm section width. Other than that, right!

    Lookie what $5000 buys you....

I'm blessed/cursed with a need to avoid waste, to try to make do with what I have rather than throwing out stuff that still has value. That sure does seem to be the case. I was at 4 used tire stores today looking for some trade-in tires in the 245-50-16 and 255-50-16 size. Not ONE in the four...

    16” wheels on b body?

Nice thing about 17" wheels you can fit many aftermarket disc brake kits w/far more room & on a bigger wheel well like the B-bodies have in 68-70 anyway 17 front & 18's rear is the about the biggest I'd do, fits nicely if you get the right tire/wheel combo, it 'still looks good' & not too...

Finally Got Some New Shoes on my GTX

I like the look. I went with the same wheel and tire sizes as you. Just a nice balance. Was on the fence for the Diamondback redlines, but decided to go with a stickier rear tire

    62 Dart - Rear height

...lower the rear will the tires clear the fender wells. I can't tell from the pictures what the rear suspension looks like. I will have to look and see what my tire sizes are, but they are as big as I could get and not scrub on the inside or outside of the fenderwells and allow suspension travel.

Seeking advice for tire size on vintage Slot wheels

Look at tire size charts and try to understand aspect ratios. The sizes listed in the OP would result in a taller tire in the front, not a good look imho…

    1969 Dodge Charger Wheels

There are quite a few threads concerning wheel and tire size. Give it a quick search and you’ll find more info about it than you’ll ever need. And btw the sizes you mentioned are perfectly fine as long as your back spacing/ offset is in the neighbourhood of centre

Tire sizes for 69 charger 15”

Looking for advice on tire sizes for my wheels. They are 15x7 with 4” backspace on the front and 15x8.5 with 5” back space on the back. Any suggestions for tire sizes that would fit best with no rubbing on the wheel wells? These are on a 69 charger that I’m swapping out the original 14” steels
