There are many threads, if you use the Search function, about wheel backspacing & tiresizes on these early B's. I, personally, cannot imagine those "fitting" whatsoever on a '66 with stock wheel wells. Others may have better news for you.
I have 18 x 10s in the back. 4 3/4” back space. I used to have a 295-45-18. It looked stuffed in the wheel opening.
That size is listed as 28.5 inches tall.
I wanted a bit of clearance around the tire and didn’t like the taller 45 series sidewall. I wanted to go to a 40 series tire but the...
Once I get the interior done, I want to refinish (fall project) a pair of 14x8 rallye wheels and get some tires for them.
I have two questions;
1. What is the biggest tire that will fit on the rim ?
2. What is the widest that will fit a 71 charger ?
I know this has been discussed, but I...
The sizes BLK 68 R/T mentioned are good sizes given your wheel size. You can fit a LOT of tire in those rear wheel wells, but you'd need a 10" rim to really take advantage of that. You could run a 295/50 or a 295/60 in the rear with the 8.5 rims. Personally I think the 295/50 is too short on...
I'll add my 2 cents. I bought a set through Jegs that were from Coker Tire because of their free shipping.
Same sizes you posted. I really like them alot! I'm a retired machinist, so before I had the Cobras mounted
I put them on the front hubs and torqued them down. Did a runout check and all...
...33% is one number that has been tossed around. Drum brakes? I'd assume about the same but I'm not certain. I am certain that the fronts do assume the greater concentration of force in a street car. Drag cars are different due to the radically different tiresizes...slicks versus pizza cutters....
...on the backs that are rubbing? Any pics so I can see how they look?
Also hoping someone out there reading this thread has any ideas on tiresizes for 15x8, and would you run same sizes on front and back or a little narrower in front? Want to fill the wheel well a bit and go wider but not to...
I have a 67 Charger, Measure the width of your dog dish covers before you buy anything. There are two different sizes 9" and 10" dog dish covers. I ordered a new set of 14" wheels from Coker Tire, waited 6 months, and the ring in the center was 10" wide and my covers didn't fit. I learned the...
Man I love the look of that! I might copy those tiresizes! I'm wondering if you think the 255/70 will fit being that my rims are 8.5 3.75BS and yours were 7 with 3.75BS. I think they will... hopefully.
The .94 torsion bars are weak. These cars were notorious for having soft front spring rates and stiff rear spring rates. 1.0 should be the starting point for torsion bar sizes even with an LA series engine. I run 1.15" bars in my red car.
Years ago, an outfit known as XV Motorsports put several...
...one that I made up. Pretty good at excel so built the formulas and started playing with possibilities. Rpm changes with change of gear, tiresizes. Helped me find my happy points.
On my last post, it says “positive” rear gears. Should be “posi” or limited slip.
Using the lock up tied...
